𝓈𝑜𝓃𝑔𝒷𝒾𝓇𝒹.

harushi  is  the  psychological  embodiment  of  everything  hanamaru  was  never  allowed  and  given  the  space  to  be.  she  is  essentially  the  hanamaru  that  had  to  be  suppressed.  buried  under  poise  and  grace  and  forgiveness  and  sweet  affections  is  her  opposite.  because  hanamaru  was  raised  to  be  kind,  obedient,  patient,  perfect  …  she  had  to  learn  that  anger  was  unacceptable,  that  disobedience  was  unacceptable,  that  speaking  up  was  unacceptable.  if  she  was  hurt,  she  had  to  swallow  it.  angry?  she  smiled.  wanted  something?  endured  sacrifice.  and  all  of  those  emotions  had  to  be  compartmentalized  somewhere.

that  compartmentalization  birthed  harushi. harushi  is  the  voice  that  says  what  hanamaru  was  ( and  is )  too  afraid  to  say.  hanamaru  says  'it's  okay',  harushi  says  'no  the  fuck  it's  not.'  when  hanamaru  forgives  someone,  harushi  wears  the  wounds  and  plots  the  revenge.  when  hanamaru  sacrifices  herself  for  others,  harushi  claws  for  them  to  look  out  for  themselves.  when  hanamaru  purses  her  lips  and  stays  quiet,  harushi  bears  her  fangs  and  screams.  harushi  is  years  of  hanamaru's  repression,  her  rage,  her  grief,  her  resentment,  her  desire  for  freedom.  every  ugly  emotion  that  hanamaru  convinced  she  was  not  (  and  cannot  be  )  allowed  to  feel.

when  harushi  comes  out,  she's  violent  and  volatile.  this  is  why.  she's  operating  from  pure  emotion  and  does  not  have  the  barrier  of  hanamaru's  filters.  politeness  be  damned,  tact  be  damned.  she  doesn't  want  to  be  liked,  and  damned  sure  doesn't  care  about  being  perfect.  hanamaru  is  the  pacifist,  harushi  is  not.

one  could  argue  that  harushi  is  trying  to  destroy  hanamaru  from  the  inside  out.  she  is  not.  harushi,  in  actuality,  is  trying  to  protect  hanamaru  …  it  just  comes  out  very  dangerous  and  unhealthy.  hanamaru  sees  harushi  as  a  monstrous  side  she's  ashamed  of,  harushi  sees  hanamaru  as  a  weakling  that  keeps  getting  walked  all  over.

but  to  be  truthful?  neither  one  can  exist  without  the  other.  hanamaru  gives  harushi  compassion,  harushi  gives  hanamaru  emotional  (  and,  to  an  extent,  physical  )  strength.  this  is  what  makes  them  complete,  because  they're  fragmented  without  the  other.  harushi  literally  is  the  only  person  that  can  truly  say  she  knows  hanamaru  more  than  she  knows  herself.

now let's  talk  about  when  harushi  comes  out  and  what  triggers  it:

when  she's  hurt,  physically  or  emotionally.  this  also  works  in  a  battle  sense.  think  about  in  a  game  and  there's  that  one  character  that  right  when  they're  at  the  lowest  of  their  life  bar,  then  they  get  these  enhancements  out  of  nowhere  ( speed  /  strength  /  health  /  etc.  )?  that's  hanamaru,  it's  her  unleashing  her  full  self,  and  harushi's  energy  increase  her  speed,  but  her  singing  wouldn't  heal  herself,  it  would  damage  her  opponent  because  it  sounds  more  like  a  distorted  banshee  scream.

when  she's  suppresses  her  feelings.  this  is  a  big  ABSOLUTELY  NOT.  harushi  instantly  takes  the  wheel  because  she's  seen  enough  of  that.

if  someone  she  loves  is  being  threatened.  harushi  instantly  comes  out,  because  she  loves  violence,  and  will  inflict  that  quicker  than  anyone  will  blink.

extreme  stress  or  emotional  overload.  harushi  will  pick  up  on  that,  then  take  over  on  instinct.  you're  tired,  I  got  this.

and  yes,  hanamaru  will  know  when  harushi  is  taking  over.  she  feels  it.  it's  heavy.  her  thoughts  become  sharper,  her  patience  gets  thinner,  her  chest  gets  tighter.  think  of  someone  who  is  about  to  have  a  panic  attack.  she  could  literally  hear  harushi  speaking,  and  if  you  asked  her  what  does  harushi  sound  like  …  it's  her  own  voice.
