Remember when joining fandom as a younger person meant lurking for a bit and figuring out the vibe and etiquette instead of coming in on day one and calling people weirdos for liking weirdo shit in the weirdo factory.

what people don’t understand about how adhd is disabling is that it’s not just getting temporarily distracted from, like, school work or hobbies. it’s getting distracted/being unable to motivate yourself to go to the doctor, eat regularly, do hygiene tasks, etc. it’s not knowing when or how long it will take you to do something, ANYTHING, and in many cases that thing is taking a shower or keeping your house from turning into a biohazard. it’s about being fundamentally incapable of controlling your attention and focus on anything, even and especially things you need to do to survive.

given the current climate this pride especially i feel i must mention that i love my trans friends, i stand with trans people in the fight against transphobic legislation and those who would enforce it, and this blog is not a good place for you to be if you do not vibe with that

yeah yeah rainbow capitalism is bad and whatever but like. when I was a child, being pro gay was not the popular or lucrative choice. I'm happy that times have changed.

I miss rainbow capitalism. I do. I miss when it felt like public opinion was still pro gay. I understand it was always an empty gesture, but it mattered in a sense of knowing how socially acceptable being queer is. If that makes sense.

It was always a thermometer, not a thermostat, and I’m begging people to understand that.

the hot & sour soup from the chinese place in our neighborhood has a 100% success rate of improving or all-out ending my migraines. partner, scientist that he is, did some research into why that might be (and also anything else that might help me, since I try not to google my own symptoms due to my unfortunate tendency to WebMD myself into thinking I’m dying). that ultimately led me to try a daily magnesium tablet starting on saturday. I’m now 48+ hours headache-free for the first time in literal weeks. don’t worry, I’m keeping a level head about it. I know this isn’t a magical cure-all and it very well might just be a coincidence. I’ve got a doctor’s appointment scheduled for wednesday and I’m not canceling it. but holy shit, it’s incredible to feel like myself again. thank you partner. thank you hot & sour soup. thank you yummy minerals

As pride month starts I want to remind everyone that staff have been banning and censoring trans women unfairly for years and not to give these assholes any credit for anything ever. Do not forget to fight for your sisters, especially your sisters of color.
