It’s been said before but if public libraries weren’t a fact of society and were proposed today they would be roundly rejected as pie in the sky communism

This is a very contemporary argument against public libraries. There are libraries that become “privatized” so that patrons have to pay to use the resources and it’s essentially Blockbuster for books because of this argument. Don’t take public libraries for granted!
