Bracken & Cedric | An Absence of Pencils
Ced felt his heart drop slightly when Bracken asked for clarification on what he had said. Was he really that annoying that Bracken had decided to tune him out? Or maybe he was just boring? Oh god, he was totally boring Bracken right now, wasnāt he? How foolish was he, to think that he ever had a chance with a guy that was so out of everyoneās league. It was like Bracken was a god, and Ced a mere mortal.
Cedricās brain short-circuited slightly when the word āsexā left Brackenās lips. Why was he a horny teenager? His hormones were starting to ruin his mind, as his mind quickly decided to replay every sexual fantasy he had ever had. What was wrong with him? He really needed to keep his penis under control. Being a teenager was probably the worst thing that could ever happen to a person.Ā
A small chuckle found its way out of Cedās mouth at Brackenās comment about bending the rules of nature. āToo bad, I was really hoping to get a ten-foot tall, blue sunflower for my next birthday. Guess Iāll have to cross that off my wish-list,ā he laughed at his own joke, not caring about how lame it was. Maybe he cared a little bit. (Maybe he cared a lot).
"I would love to see the book you document everything in! Is it like, a textbook, or a notebook, or something? And how do you capture the images of the plants. Do you- do youĀ draw them?!ā Cedric was pretty sure he wouldnāt be able to handle that. Nobody should be that attractive to him, it had to be impossible.Ā
Yet there Bracken was, licking his lips and driving Ced crazy. He really hoped his hormones would calm themselves as they talked more often. He was getting tired of the tightness in his pants every time he saw him.
"Wow, thatās so cool that you can do all that, though! All I have is intangibility, which doesnāt doĀ anythingĀ to benefit my love for biology. Like, I could walk through a tree or something but, yeahā¦itās annoying. Well, I love my gift, I just wish I had something a little moreā¦useful, you know?ā
Bracken smirked slightly. He wasn't sure why he had used that ridiculous ten-foot blue sunflower example in the first place, but he was glad Cedric wasn't calling him out on it.Ā He watched in thoroughly amused silence as Cedric leaped from conclusion to conclusion, his eyes finally resting on the plant doodle at the edge of his page. Bracken looked downwards, biting his lip to keep from smiling too widely.
"Yeah, I draw them. Maybe you could see one sometime. When I have it on me." He said cautiously, gauging the other boy's reaction. This idle suggestion was only that-a suggestion. His sketchbook was reserved for those who held his ultimate trust. Cedric didn't need to know that his sketchbook was tucked in the inner sanctum of his satchel. It was never far from him, probably rubbing against a bundle of pencils with an elastic band around them or a loose Coke cap.
A quick glance at the clock told him to start cleaning up. His hands moved to start putting things away, but his interest in what Cedric was saying slowed them to a snail's pace. "Intangibility." He muttered to himself, willing any information from Mrs. Camper's class to present itself. "That's pretty cool in itself. I don't know about useful, but...you're pretty much a superhero. Like, I'd way rather be a member of the X-Men than grow a potted plant. If given the choice."
Unable to resist another comment he added, "Also; okay, so let's say you did decide to walk through a wall or a-a tree or something. If you stopped being intangible halfway through would you get stuck in it? Do you get asked that a lot? You probably do. Sorry."Ā
