The way you describe yourself to others is going to shape your own perception of yourself. If you say you're bad, you're going to internalize that you're bad. Describe yourself on positive, certain terms, and never let yourself tell yourself negative comments. Focus on what you like about yourself, and seek to WORK on the negative things you dislike instead of self-flagellating yourself.

Don't use depreciating usernames (I saw some on here) like ShittyCrappyGal or DepressedBear or SluttyCunt. The online persona you adopt also influences on your own perception of yourself. Use a positive username and persona that creates inspiration to you.

Affirmations aren't cheesy, they're very precious tools to build self-esteem. They're messages you're sending to your subconscious, you're buliding out your own perception of yourself instead of depending on others which makes for a much more solid self-esteem.

If you're embarassed about doing affirmations out loud, practice them mentally, or when you're in your car alone. You can also write them out on a sheet of paper and throw it away once you're done.

Affirmations are also tools to change your vibe, the energy you send off to others and to the universe. If you radiate "I am competent and confident in my knowledge" by reciting it mentally, your body and manners will change ever so slightly, and others will perceive this tiny change. And they'll change their interactions with you. Someone might consider you for promotion, someone might come to you to discuss some stuff and create a new link with you, possibily to give you greater opportunities.

Affirmations can be whatever positive change you want to see. Phrase them at the present time. Future tense implies it will arrive far away, and you're not sure about the present you.

Start by respecting yourself and others will respect you even more. Those that don't respect you aren't ones to keep around, and that includes friends and family.
