Genius way to release music. This visual album is a beautiful concept. Every song’s essence being represented beautifully in video. 

Tierra explores may genres, proving her musical abilities. Ranging from nostalgic, rnb silky textures, especially through the second and last tune, to darker trap vibes, through to trap and funk inspiration.

The juxtaposition of humour/not being taken seriously and good music is always refreshing. Many songs being playful ‘boys touch v*****s’ ‘girls eat tacos’. The use of her voice is great, varying between songs.

Every song is too short but definitely sweet. A little bubble of energy. Sparse, but thats what makes it so good. Rhythmically and harmonically interesting (shout out to chord at 10:59), with great production (shout out to vocal production in the song starting 13:16) whilst being humorous, and visually beautiful.

These smoothy vocals, and their husky production, sit beautifully on top of this intimate, bittersweet track.

The guitar, playing a lullaby like broken chord motif, holds the harmony together, further complimented by the vocal harmonies in the chorus.

The variation of the vocal melody in parts, like in the second verse, or the second chorus, feels like a new pocket of energy. Just keeps us on our toes.

Oh and that lazy colourful jazzy guitar solo in the bridge is so mmmm.

These chords! This production! So souly. 

The way it starts and then kicks in half way through the 4 bar phrase is just beautiful. Reminds me of why low-fi hip hop is so popular. Taking some beautiful harmony and putting a simple but driving beat behind it. Mac Ayres melody compliments and follows the pattern of the chord movement. The sounds really gel together to create this silky texture. The funky guitar then coming in half way through, giving Tom Misch kinda vibes, and a different colour for the track. And the way they use it sparingly and it comes in every now and again, keeps the interest and keeps you wanting to hear more. 

Jazz Soul and Funk go so well together. Whether you’re just chilling in your room, taking some time out, driving in the car, lying on a hammock, this is the tune to really slow down your mind.

Masego is king of funky souly vibes. This track is just another of many bangers.

I love the sugary keys with the punchy off beat rhythms. His playful lyrics are common within his tracks, making them fun to groove to. His off beat vocal melody is constantly evolving, keeping interest. His silky chorus brings great contrast to the rest of the song, which is unconventional, as normally you get a lift in the chorus, however this works great.

This simple, sweet, safe sounding track reminds me of the Animal crossing late night music feeling, where you feel at peace. Reminds me of stars and grass and that feeling of a sudden surge of affection towards someone.

The beat stays the same pretty much throughout, which brings a comfort and reassurance to the song. The vocal is soft, and conversational, making it very relatable and easy to listen to. The way the melody sits on the chords brings the momentum. The chords are beautiful. Must be why I like it. Love me some beautiful tension, extended chords. The end solo just gives a lazy laid back feeling.

Doesn’t it just make you want to lie in a hammock on a beach at night and relax. Not worry about anything.

Easy to sing along to. Easy to fall to.

FUN. FUNKY. COLOURFUL. 

Kool Aid by Sam Wills its perfect for making you feel KOOL and FRESH. Simple, got lots of space. Vocal melody is just mmm, hitting all the right notes and pushing the song forward. The funky ascending guitar chords on the offbeat keeps the groooove. 

Wavy. exciting sounds, especially during the pre chorus. 

The ‘I just want to take you away’ in the outro GETS ME GOING, like yes GROOOOVE.
