Hey! So sorry it took me forever to respond, this project is currently on hiatus since my life has become kinda crazy busy lately unfortunately, I appreciate everyone who’s enjoyed it so much <3 I really do hope to have the time one day to pick it back up but i’m not sure when that’d ever be tbh

I really want to keep working on this but I don’t have the time or energy to do big pieces as of right now :,) so here’s my compromise!
Becky woke up the next morning leaning against the window with her cape wrapped around her like a blanket. She noticed that while she still felt like she was drowning in oil, it wasn’t as bad as yesterday.
She looked behind her at the doctor, who had seemingly taken her spot on the couch, still fast asleep and snoring in an incredibly undignified manner. She wondered for a second if he was doing it to annoy her, but she quickly put out that thought.
He was her best bet at getting back home and getting back her powers, she had to play nice. Besides he was probably really stressed out too, if that mouse brain was even capable of any emotion besides hunger.
Home, back to her family, back to her sidekick. She’d been worried sick about him ever since she woke up. When they were knocked out midair Huggy had been thrown in the opposite direction that she had, there was no telling what happened to him.
She comforted herself by imagining that he got all their family and friends and hid away, perhaps a secret bunker or something. She giggled to herself as the image of her family blissfully misunderstanding a frantic Bob trying to tell them to run with some sort of monkey charades.
Her fantasy was short lived however, because when she looked back out the big window she saw two familiar shapes, creeping hauntingly behind one of the dead trees that littered the warehouse’s lawn. Joy overtook her, her friends had come to save her! Now they could- oh, oh no. She recognized those swirling red eyes.
Mind control.

Blackout.
Back in Fair City everything has gone to chaos. People are being taken and mind-controlled by the invaders, Amazo Guy seems to be around every corner, and a ragtag group of the villains that remain work their best to try and protect their city for once.

in the mood for (more) angst-
just thinking about the @boxleitners-return-au ....if we mashed it with the next gen au. that's like 2x the angst. chase... well he'd be torn. everything is just crashing down.
Poor boy would think everything he had known was a lie. Also imagine if that blog were to take place in the Becky boxleitner au along with the next gen au. Chase would she his father hurt his sister like that

After (losing his mind for a hot second) cooling off Twobrains comes back inside to find Becky Reading a book, but not really focusing on it. They have a heart to heart.
Becky asks him what he really DOES all day now, since he became a villain. His silence is all the answer she needs. He really is just… completely focused on cheese of all things now.
She says that she knows he never really asked for her to start hanging around, and he cuts her off, tells her it’s not her fault. They open up to eachother a bit, but it’s a a somber moment. The truth of their situation is finally setting in.
Meanwhile, back in fair city, the chaos continues, and the citizens who are still left uncaptured wonder where their hero is.

Im so sorry i’ll pay ur hospital bills
Thankfully they happened to appear by a little town hidden in the forest. Twobrains, realizing that he’d unfortunately need his enemy to be awake so they could actually fly home, carried Wordgirl to the single hospital in the area. The townspeople seemed wary of him when he told them she was an alien, but eventually he managed to convince the staff to take a look at her.
In the waiting room, he overheard some interesting conversation about people getting calls from their loved ones in other places; it turns out Fair City wasn’t the only area being invaded, and the town they had teleported to was just lucky enough to be a hidden from direct sight of Amazo’s forces.
The doctors eventually called him into the waiting room, they said she was awake but appeared very weak. He was immediately worried. Now that her brain is active, she should be able to heal herself no problem. Once he entered the hospital room however, he understood.
So basically what happens next is
A little clarification on my previous animatic just in case!
Twobrains is going about his day in his secluded little lair when Wordgirl comes crashing through the roof, knocked out, having just completely lost a battle.
Amazo Guy, Steven’s former lover and the former hero of fair city comes floating down, and tells Twobrains about his plan to cleanse the world.
He says he regrets being a hero, and that the earth and it’s people are irredeemable. His alien hoard begins attacking the city, capturing citizens.
He gets personal, and says Twobrains forgot him, he never really loved him, and he’s just as bad as the rest, all of them replacing him with a little child.
As mice do when scared, Twobrains runs away, grabbing Wordgirl and jumping in his teleporter prototype to escape.
“But he’d come back to burn that town to the ground.”

We open on a nice sunny day in Fair City where nothing is going wrong and everything is normal and fine
