Bowie in Moscow
Date: April 1976
Location: Moscow, Russia
Context: In April 1976 Bowie took his second trip to Russia for a mere 7 hours, this time in a different form: the Thin White Duke rather than Ziggy Stardust. He invited Iggy Pop, photographer Andrew Kent and acting manager Pat Gibbons on this trip to Moscow, Russia from Zurich, Switzerland.
Sources: When David Bowie was the Thin White Duke - Time, Station to Station: David Bowie on the Trans-Siberian railway - New East Archive, Andrew Kent, and David Bowie official site
Note: The first photo is one of my all time favourite pictures of Bowie, he has a certain air about him which is enchanting.
David Bowie was really in his ‘I’m 13 and this is deep’ phase when he named the ‘Aladdin Sane’ album to be heard as ‘A lad insane’. I bet he was just sitting there out of his mind on coke in the studio drinking his milk like “wow this is so edgy 🤯”
