                   he doesn’t want to answer. valentine can forgive her for trespassing. more than anything, he wishes she would simply go away on her own. there isn’t much he dislikes more than confrontation, and humans didn’t have the nicest track records. still, she had asked; and if val ever wanted her to know that she was on private property, than he supposed he had to say something. ‘yes, i’m here,’ the being calls back, stepping forward, walking several paces towards her, slow and steady. ‘i’m afraid you’ve stumbled upon my home. quite alright — i know it’s quite a few acres; you are not the first to think it is public land, but…’ he would feel rude, simply asking her to leave. his hands wring anxiously together. ‘well, may i help you with something?’

              ❝ i am so sorry, sir. ❞ she said, her voice tinged with embarrassment. ❝ i was told this place was totally abandoned. and haunted. i, uh, i have a show where i communicate with ghosts and attempt to, uh, unhaunt buildings. i also do true crime. ❞ she places her arm out to shake his hand, but quickly moves it back as she finds the need to explain herself further considering the circumstances. ❝ by that i mean, i, i try to solve them. i don’t, god, i don’t commit true crimes. ❞ she exhales. ❝ sorry. it’s been a long night. ❞

              her arm returns to its previous position; outstretched in case he’d like to shake it. although, she wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. she hadn’t exactly made a good first impression on him, after all. she could at least introduce herself so he could have an easier time reporting her presence to the authorities. surprisingly enough, it wouldn’t be the first time.
