“I don’t… feel safe at home,” he replied quietly, so quietly that even he could barely hear it, but his lips were so near that Reg had to have heard. There was part of him that wanted to find some relief in someone else finally knowing what he was going through, but he also had no idea what to expect from now on. He didn’t know how Reg would react, and even in the best case scenario… what would his step dad do? Dorsey knew that he wasn’t supposed to tell people that he was being abused at home. “I don’t want to die in that house.” The offer came and he held tighter, then leaned back to look at the other man. “Are you serious? Reg…”
Those words came, and at first Reg couldn’t help but to question if he’d really even heard them. Though, in his heart and in his gut, he knew he had. Ultimately he wasn’t sure why he’d been surprised. Despite what everyone thought, Reginald Huggins wasn’t a stupid man. He knew and understood more than he let on, and this situation was one he’d kept his eye on for more than his fair share of time. So, he wasn’t shocked when the admission came, not at all. Only, he still couldn’t rid himself of the sick feeling in his stomach. Tightening his grip on Dorsey, Reg pressed a soft kiss to the man’s shoulder, his fingertips finding Dorsey’s hairline as he began to run gently over the skin there. The man’s last comment made Reg’s blood run cold- no matter the things he’d said, done, and seen, the thought of losing Dorsey, of something serious happening to him...Reg couldn’t stomach it. “You won’t. I ain’t gonna fuckin’ let ya.” Releasing the other, he took a step back, though he kept his eyes unmoving on Dorsey’s own. “Yeah. I’m serious. I’m damn serious. Do ya trust me?” He asked, his stomach turning as he waited for an answer.
