A Hoard of Knowledge

“Oh dear, it appears the masquerade is broken... Kidding, I am making no effort in hiding my presence from others of our kind. What is it you wanted, chromatic?”

She’ll allow this for.... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.“Please stop that, whoever you are.”

Scylia dislikes the use of weapons, personally. Dragon, you know. Claws and teeth and huge flame sacs. Also magic. She knows how to handle swords and staves with proficiency at least. Axes are something she outright dislikes, due to losing her finger to one such weapon. 

Humans have an innate sense of ambition and curiosity, leading to thousands upon thousands of tomes and novels throughout Scylia’s long life. She adores the process they use to learn and write, to study and create. Hence why she had gathered such a hoard. 

“Oh yes, I almost forgot I agreed to that. Perhaps I should have written down my own decisions.”Scylia leaned down and planted a kiss on the mercenary's lips, just long enough for her (gold) lipstick to leave a tell-tale mark on Nele. 

“Two thousand and four kisses. The latter shall be daily.” On that, they were very alike. Money was a big deal for both of them, especially since one of them (probably not Nele) literally ate valuables. Now to see whether it was money or the promise of a dragon’s affection that won out. 

“Charmed. Now, now, that’s a little presumptuous. Yes, what you are guarding is valuable, but you are not the only guard. I don’t mean to boast, but few a foolish enough to strike at a dragon at the seat of her power. How about... two thousand, and five kisses?” As much as she did actually want a guard, and this one was good looking for a human, she was a dragon. Greed was a major part in her thought process.

“Scylia, my dear. My name is Scylia. Now then, while I am loathe to part with any part of my food supply, I do believe I can scrounge up something to make it worthwhile for the likes of you. I will, of course, have to know your usual rates to form a basis for your payments. In addition I would have you perform actual guard duties, not just being a tantalizing decoration.”

“Perhaps I should seek out a mercenary or two, or just that one, as a guard for the library. It’s not as if I need such a mundane protector, but the possibility of such wonderful eye candy is too much to resist.”

“I would like to formally apologize for my absence these past few weeks. Some... errands occurred that forced my attention elsewhere. I do hope my visitors will forgive me.”
