How has Doctor Who not done an episode where the Doctor meets the six wives of Henry VIII? Especially because they could have a lot of fun with meeting the wives out of order.
Like, imagine the Doctor and companions are supposed to be visiting the Elizabethan era but arrive a few decades early. Something seems to be a bit wrong with the TARDIS. Worse, they’ve accidentally landed in the Palace of Whitehall, directly near the Queen’s Chambers.
They bump into none other than Catherine Howard and the Doctor goes “Ah, Henry’s fifth wife!” only for her to get really confused and for Anne of Cleeves to turn the corner and be like “Uh, I’m Henry’s wife.” and the Doctor just panics because they totally forgot Catherine was lady-in-waiting to Anne and now they’ve just revealed a major piece of future information. Oops.
The embarrassed Doctor heads back to the TARDIS only for it to dump them a few years earlier and this happens:
Doctor: Oh, that’s Jane Seymour!
Companion: That’s Henry’s third wife, right?
Doctor: Oh, this must be when Anne was Henry’s wife.
*Enter Catherine of Aragon*
Doctor: Oh, I’m really having an off day.
Once again, Doctor runs off to the TARDIS only for the “hiccups” through time to continue. For whatever reason, they can’t get out of the palace. Something is preventing the TARDIS from leaving. They just keep meeting the wives of Henry VIII (not the man himself).
A companion eventually realizes each woman wears the same gemstone necklace when queen. The Doctor convinces Catherine Parr to let him inspect the stone and, what do you now, it’s a telepathic trinket from some far away galaxy. They’ve long been outlawed because the stone bonds with the wearer. Normally that’s not a problem but this stone has been re-gifted to each of Henry’s wives and bonded with each of them. And having multiple wearers alive at the same time has caused the stone distress (Aragon lived through Boleyn, Cleeves outlived Howard and Parr). It’s not really sentient but it’s strong enough for the TARDIS to sense it.
The Doctor knows how to fix the stone but needs each wearer together. That means bringing all six wives into the TARDIS. But the hiccups increase in frequency as the stone panics.
Imagine the Doctor yelling for the wives to help stabilize the TARDIS only to get them mixed up:
Doctor: Catherine, pull that lever!
*Catherines Aragon, Howard, and Parr all pull different levers*
Poor Jane Seymour is the only one allowed to help after that.
Bonus: The wives are played by the cast of SIX.
