Just the thought of like dudbdjdjdb rumors about tiny things fixing stuff on ships when you're not looking and this alien doesn't believe the rumors at all until one day they're on this one ship and stuff that's on their list to fix keeps already being fixed when they haven't touched it yet

"Ah well time to repair this wire, lemme grab my pliers-" *turns away, looks back* "I WAS TURNED AROUND FOR FIVE SECONDS WHY IS IT FIXED"

Them coming out of the air ducts during a sleep cycle and getting onto tje cockpit to change course of the autopilot on the ship, using hands to mess with hologram buttons and set course to this trading outpost and add a note like "need more food" so nobody gets suspicious ("who changed the course? I mean I guess we might need more food...")

Simon was part of a colony that was very much a cult and like sacrificed him to blood alien thing for some reason- but he gets away eventually-

But being in a universe full of giant aliens is scary especially after that first experience, so he stays hidden, hopping from ship to ship to get as far away as he can, hiding in the walls and air ducts, collecting supplies via stealing and sneaking and making his own gadgets, getting off to stay on different planets for little amounts of time to eat food and maybe run into another human or two living the "borrower" life style and doing trades but not fully trusting anyone and always ready to hop on another ship and sneak away

And then eventually maybe he's stuck for a bit and meets Grace, and things seem to be okay, Grace doesn't seem to actually want anything from him aside from company and he almost feels like maybe he can trust this human at least a little more than the rest of his kind (not fully ofc)

Until Grace either mentions or introduces him to Rocky- or for more fear just going around a corner and Grace is on top of this giant terrifying rock thing and is smiling and Simon is just-

And of course there's also the idea of Simon being a giant from the fish mutations, like a huge terrifying merman with a mouth too wide and filled with too many teeth- and he's found and he has some humanoid features still which raises questions- idk when they'd get to the point but Simon being soft and protective of little Grace who took a chance and trusted him to not be a monster thatd eat everything and figuring out why this "alien" had a human-esc appearance
