every time the lord of the rings is mentioned at the oscars im just so glad that year after year all of hollywood is forcibly reminded that the lord of the rings series won 17 oscars including best picture  

Ok but the moment in Mordor when Sam looks at a star and says “there is light, beauty up there, that no shadow can touch….” and then looks down at Frodo, who’s sleeping with his head on Sam’s shoulder,  as if there’s a light and beauty in Frodo that no shadow can touch…………literally invented romance

“Not all men” yeah, you’re right. Aragorn, son of Arathorn, Gimli, son of Gloin, Legolas, son of Thranduil, Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin “Pippin” Took, Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck and dare I say Boromir would never.

my mum was googling for an article about why everyone in the lord of the rings film is white (like to be clear she was annoyed by this) and the google ai was apparently like “everybody in the lord of the rings is not white. gandalf is grey.”

absolutely flabbergasting to see people who have so enthusiastically succumbed to despair. like okay denethor, but some of us are gonna actually face the armies of mordor in battle nonetheless.

The thing about Denethor is that he not only succumbed to despair, he wanted to ensure that Faramir succumbed with him. Similarly, a lot of people now are not only succumbing to despair, they're actively proselytizing despair, trying to convince others to join them in their hopelessness. Despair is apparently lonely and they want company in their self-immolation.

btw denethor succumbed to despair bc he was doomscrolling on the palantir. Sauron tweaked his algorithm so he only saw bad news, and he fell into the trap of thinking the world couldn't be saved.
