One of the (many) reasons I prefer Big Brother to Survivor is that bb has a final two while survivor has a final three. A final two is inherently more dramatic than a “pick one of three” scenario, and there’s also the possibility that someone can be a spoiler with jury votes split three ways. However, Survivor used to do Final Twos for a while. They changed the format because a lot of great players were taken out just before the end (like Vanessa or Diane in Big Brother), and Production wanted to get better people in the Finale. However, as a result, the great players have instead been taken out in the 4th place slot and this new twist is supposed to remedy that. Where will Survivor take this? Will the jury vote someone back into the game at Final Four? Will there be a final tribal with 7 people? Great players being taken out before the end is inevitable, and screwing with the basic format (at least in my opinion) hurts the drama and casts doubt on other seasons. Why should Ben have the opportunity to win that Rob, Jerri, Malcolm, and countless others didn’t have? And why should someone (like Cirie or Devon) be eliminated without having a vote cast against them?
