abusive parents will act like most selfish, spoiled, tantrum-throwing children and then insist on their children acting like adults
hey can we put a billboard up with this on it , thanks
my parents: abuse their kid relentlessly, emotionally and physically, and completely neglect to protect me from other abusers in the family
me: grows up with a fractured identity, cptsd, and a personality disorder, along with some spicy pinches of substance abuse and depression

Your daily reminder that traumatised brains are literally physically different to a normal brain. Repeated trauma and abuse has a severe, long-term effect.
If you have difficulty maintaining social bonds, concentrating, sleeping, focusing, or regulating your emotions, itâs because youâre traumatised. If youâre not happy with yourself, if you worry youâre a burden, youâre toxic, that you donât matter, itâs because youâre traumatised. If you struggle to make it out of bed, think straight, get motivated or distracted, itâs because youâre traumatised.
Have you ever been told youâre too dramatic, or emotional? Has anyone wondered why you trust no one? Why you analyse every personâs smallest behaviour? Why youâre paranoid of the most minor signs of history repeating itself? Itâs because youâre traumatised.
And it is NOT your fault.
me, while being abused: it's okay, I'm used to this already, and I'm tough, I can take it.
me, years later when the trauma symptoms hit: I WAS SO WRONG

Therapist: and what do you think has been making you feel sad?

Therapist: âAre you experiencing any suicidal thoughts?â
Me:
Can parents stop acting like providing a childâs basic needs is something to be earned? So many kids grow up traumatised because they were made to feel guilty about the existence they never asked for
