Ask William why don’t you? (NSFW ⚠️🩸 *933 words)
- this is an excerpt from chapter 7 of my fic: welcome to cottonwood on Ao3
Moon felt nauseous the entire time at dinner. She could hardly touch her plate. Anxiety brewed low in her stomach. William didn’t say anything, but he noticed while Jackson talked about his day. William took a swig of his cold beer, his deep eyes finding Moon’s. They didn’t need to speak to exchange the idea that something wasn’t right.
When she went to her room, she perched at the edge of her bed. Trying to sort through everything overwhelming her.
She looked into the dusty mirror on the dresser in front of her. Her eyes dropped down to her body. She didn’t have a good relationship with it, not when it was the reason for too much of her suffering.
Besides the earlier discomfort and overexposure she’d felt, there was another reason she no longer found familiarity in her own flesh. Not just because she was gaining more weight and looked like a normal-sized girl, but because she was craving things she’d never thought she wanted.
William was bringing these things out of her. Even the thought of him had warmth spreading from her head to her toes. She didn’t like the frenzy it sent her mind into.
Besides the physical, she didn’t like how much she enjoyed spending time with William too. How different would things be if he was a guy she met at a bar or a library? How would they’ve talked?
Moon fell back onto the cool sheets. Bunching her thighs together as a hungry need began to gnaw through her. Carefully undoing the buttons of her jeans with one hand whilst the other slid down her stomach and under her waistband.
She closed her eyes, letting her breathe slower as she visualised a certain man’s hands instead of hers. But it was no use. It didn’t feel real enough. She snapped up straight, breathing softly and raggedly.
She couldn’t deal with this alone, not now. Fuck her pride. Fuck any common sense.
Before she knew it, she was at the other end of the house outside William's room. She didn’t bother knocking and pushed the door open to see him standing in darkness in front of the window. Back facing her as he wrapped gauze around one forearm.
His lack of shirt was painfully obvious as the green-hued light danced over the contours of his back muscles.
The world felt insanely quiet besides the low creak of the wooden door as Moon stepped inside. William didn’t turn back nor say anything as he resumed bandaging his cut-up flesh from the medic kit.
Moon’s heart rate increased as she slowly pushed the door shut behind her with her body weight, her chest heaving in anticipation.
His scent was intoxicating.
The room was too dark, but she didn’t mind it. She didn’t have it in her to look him in the face. Not now, at least.
“You got hurt?” She asked, clearing her throat. The question was far too innocent for what she wanted. A weak attempt at masking her true intent.
She’d put on a little lipstick before coming here. She couldn’t help it. Moon hoped William would like it.
William still didn’t bother turning around “Nothing much…a little tryst with ‘jockey’” he mumbled. His large build stiffened a little as Moon walked up closer, standing behind him. Her breath fanned over his midriff.
She was being too quiet. Something wasn’t right. “What was the shit at dinner about?” William asked, tucking the excess gauze into the main wrap on his wrist.
“William I-…” Moon tried saying what she wanted. The words died on her lips. Anxiety bubbled up her throat. Why couldn’t she say what she wanted?
At her stutter, William slowly turned around to look down at her. His gaze dropped to her painted lips. Watching the moonlight filtering from the window behind him, casting a glow over her face. She was exquisite.
“What’s wrong?” He asked, eyes burning into her lips. “Why have you got this shit on?” He hummed, trying to rouse her familiar annoyance as he pressed the pad of his thumb to her bottom lip and dragged the plump flesh to the side, watching her round eyes widen as he spread the velvety lipstick.
Moon didn’t suit silence after all.
Had she dressed up for the first time? Was it for him? William couldn’t help but enjoy the fact Moon was trying to get his attention. Did she know she didn’t have to try that hard at all?
“William…you said you’d do anything I asked, right?” That certainly got his attention. He slowly leaned back against the window frame to look down at her. The moonlight enhanced how majestic he looked. The broad expanse of his chest to the muscles of his abdomen had Moon fighting to keep her eyes on his expressionless face.
“I did, yes.” he nodded, not removing his gaze from hers as he clicked the medic aid box shut behind him. He was enjoying where the conversation was going, even if he didn’t show it.
Moon was trying to not be overwhelmed by the intensity of his presence as she mustered up the courage to keep going “What if what I wanted was something you haven’t given me before?” Her eyes dropped away from him nervously.
“Then I’ll give it to you today. What is it?”
Carefully she forced herself to look back up at him. “Pleasure.” The word tumbled from her lips, and she tried not to gasp.
Despite his face hidden in shadows, Moon could make out the rise of his lips. She’d said the right thing.
