Our batboy Cass underestimates himself so much, that's why I decided to make a list of everything about him that makes him an invaluable friend (and honestly my favourite character of acotar series).

His ability to understand people with just one look. Even if he is considered the funny one, the stupid, the who is always loud and everything that he could seem at first sight, he is also incredibly good at understanding when there is something wrong. He knows his friends and can see them.

He is always there to help his friends, to help the to pour out their emotions, even it would costs him burns on his hands or punches.

HE WOULD PROTECT YOU WITH HIS WHOLE BODY. HE WOULD SACRIFICE EVERY PIECE OF HIM JUST TO SAVE YOU...even his wings, and we all know how important they are for an Illyrian.

He is a person full of morals. What he had lived and what he is (that is his terrible childhood, the loss of his mother and his being a bastard) determinated the kind of person he is now. He and every person around him has suffered for something, but he wants to change the entire situation, in the Illyrian camps he wants the females to be trained, he wants them strong because he wants them to have possibilities, possibilities to change their situation, their position, their fate. He wants them not to lived what his mother lived. And this is so important to him that he cannot even accept a bet with Az. Because even if he is the powerfull commander of the Night Court army he still think of himself as a bastard that doesn't deserve anything and he feels all the hate that the Illyrians feel for him. But he is still there. Fighting everyday to change the world.

And yes...we have also to say that in fact he is really funny. He makes us laugh very easily...and come on, if you don't like this thing about him, you al probably lying.

And the lesser important (but still very important 😂🙈). He is so fucking handsome and so fucking strong that he needs seven siphons to control his power. In acowar the Illyrian said that he fought like Enalius, that in greek mythology is usually considered son of Ares (or another one of his names) and god of soldiers. Do you get what it means? HE IS LIKE A GOD. He is not the commander because he's Rhys' friend, but because he really deserves it. Strong, powerful and fucking intelligent both in military strategy and at understanding people (that is so important to understand troops morale).

He is vulnerable, he doesn't show it, but we know it. And he has flaws, but who doesn't? All of this makes him more true, more realistic.

HIS BIG HEART FULL OF LOVE FOR HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS...and everyone who needs him (because we know he would do it for anyone).

These are the most important things that cames up to my mind now, but sure there are a lot more.

Now, that's why I lost my mind for him.

I just wanted to share my love for him to all of you. Let's love our batboy ♥️

ACOWAR, Chapter 56:

Mud and blood splattered Cassian’s dark helmet, his armor.

He ditched his tall shield for a round one strapped across his back, crafted from the same ebony metal.

And then he launched into a run.

I could have sworn even Rhys paused on the other end of the battlefield to watch as Cassian cut his way through those enemy soldiers, aiming for the mounted Hybern commander. Who realized what and who was coming for him and started to search for a better weapon.

Cassian had been born for this—these fields, this chaos and brutality and calculation.

He didn’t stop moving, seemed to know where every opponent fought both ahead and behind, seemed to breathe in the flow of the battle around him. He even let his Siphons’ shield drop—to get close, to feel the impact of the arrows that he took in that ebony shield. If he slammed that shield into a soldier, his other arm was already swinging his sword at the next opponent.

I’d never seen anything like it—the skill and precision. It was like a dance.

I must have said it aloud because Mor replied, “For him, that’s what battle is. A symphony.”

Her eyes did not stray from Cassian’s death-dance.

Three soldiers were brave or stupid enough to try to charge him. Cassian had them down and dying with four maneuvers.

“Holy Mother,” I breathed.

That was who had been training me.

Why Fae trembled at his name. Why the high-born Illyrian warriors had been jealous enough to want him dead.

But there Cassian was, no one between him and the commander.

The commander had found a discarded spear. He threw it.

Fast and sure, I skipped a heartbeat as it spiraled for Cassian.

His knees bent, wings tucked in tight, shield twisting—

He took the spear in the shield with an impact I could have sworn I heard, then sliced off the shaft and kept running.

Within a heartbeat, Cassian had sheathed both shield and sword across his back.

And I would have asked why but he’d already picked up another fallen spear.

Already hurled it, his entire body going into the throw, the movement so perfect that I knew I’d one day paint it.

Both armies seemed to stop at the throw.

Even with the distance, Cassian’s spear hit home.

It went right through the commander’s chest, so hard it knocked the male clean off his horse.

By the time he was done falling, Cassian was there.

His sword caught the sunlight as it lifted and plunged down.

Cassian had picked his mark well. Hybern fled now. Outright turned and fled for the river.

Oh, right....

Nesta: for the last time, Cassian and I are NOT TOGETHER!! I’m not even interested in him!

Azriel may be everything people say, broken, obsessive, toxic, flawed (not that I believe this shit), but he gave this wonderful gift to Nesta and it just makes me love him more.

.....

But then Azriel approached her. Nestha blinked at the gift the Shadowsinger placed on her lap.

— I didn't buy you anything — she muttered to Az, her cheeks turning pink.

— I know,— he said, smiling. — I do not mind.

[...]

Azriel plucked the small silver wand tucked inside it and unrolled it. One end held a clip, the other a small glass sphere.

— You can attach this to any book you're reading, and the little fairy ball of light will glow. So you don't have to squirm when reading at night.

Nestha touched the glass ball, no bigger than her thumb, and the fairy light flickered from within, casting a bright, easy glow over her lap. She touched it again and it shut down. And then she jumped to her feet and threw her arms around Azriel.

The room was silent for a beat.

But Azriel laughed and squeezed her gently. Cassian smiled at the sight — at the sight of them.

— Thank you, — Nestha said, pulling away quickly to marvel at the device. — It's brilliant.

Azriel blushed and took a step back, the shadows swirling.

Nestha looked at Cassian, and that light was once again in her eyes.
