Awwh, it seemed that her attempt to un-tense things were working. Oh, well.Â
Hmm, so Rosa was a history lover. Midnite wasnât one for reading such things. In fact, she typically would let those kinds of books gather dust in favour of the ones she would enjoy reading with⌠someone else. Though she would sometimes read them when aloneâŚÂ
âŚshe hated being alone.
âHmmâŚwell, I do like reading a lot of romance and horror.â she admitted. âThough itâs even better if itâs both. Have you ever read Punio Hazard? Itâs cheesy, but the relationship between Gage and Katie Summers is pretty sweet.â she looked so happy as she thought about the chapter she last read, where the Summers were locked in a room and forced to fight a giant mutated Hurt Plant.
Midnite was quickly able to stop herself from going on about it when they came across something in the middle of the hall; Darkmess puddles. The Spark hunter wouldâve been able to bypass them no problem (even without the ability to float around), but she knew that Rosa didnât have that luxury.Â
She needed to keep the little one alive until they reached the library, so she had to do something about this.Â
âHere, let me fix that for you.âÂ
The Spark hunter floated over to the other side of the puddles, and held out her hands towards the goopy mess. Within a few seconds, her hands began to pulsate with violet energy⌠and the darkmess puddles were suddenly split apart, creating a narrow path that Rosa could use safely. While the Spark Hunters did not have the same amount of power over Darkmess energy like their master, they could at least just make puddles split apart for a short time. Though it took a lot of energy, and wasnât exactly something they needed to do often, so they rarely used it.Â
ââŚIâd start coming over now if I were you.â Midnite then said in between tired gasps and panting.
Despite not having heard about the book, Rosa still attentively listened to the description, even as her sleepy blue eyes wandered to the decorated walls. She echoed the bookâs title under her breath, then eventually replied, âNo, I haven't read it⌠I haven't read too many romance novels, actuallyâŚâ she admitted, tugging at a lock of hair, âIt's hard finding good ones that areâŚâ she paused, puffing out her cheek and clearing out her throat, âAge appropriateâŚâ
Her face got a little hot. She didnât like admitting her age to people, much less strangers.
Since she had been looking at the ground, when Midnite stopped, her paws slipped on the cold floor as she tried to prevent herself from running into the otherâs ghost-like tail. She looked between Midnite and the Darkmess puddle. Heaving a heavy sigh, she readied Kaboomer, knowing that she normally had to fight her way through the puddles in order to get past them. However, much to her surprise, the Spark Hunter made a path just big enough for her to slip through.
Blinking, Rosaâs heart jumped in her chest. It was a good reminder that she was dealing with someone on Cursaâs side, who could easily tame the Darkmess⌠She swallowed the lump in her throat, hoisted Kaboomer into one arm, and gathered her skirts with her free paw. As quickly as she could, she scurried through the thin path, pressing Kaboomber against her face to mask her nose from the odd stench that the puddle emitted.
âUmâŚ! ThanksâŚâ she managed to squeak. She opened her mouth again, almost tempted to ask questions about the Darkmess puddles, why they were there, what purpose they served, and why Cursa and her Spark Hunters were so determined to suck planets dry⌠But she bit her lower lip instead. Itâd be best for her to hold back until they got into the library⌠But Midniteâs intimidating air didnât give the little Rabbid a vote of confidence in asking in the first place.
âTh-the⌠The library is through there,â she pointed at the large door at the top of the stairs, âR-right? And⌠Um⌠Y-youâll tell me about Cursa there, right?â
