She slowly bent down over the boy, he was facedown on the ground crying. His shoulders shook, hands clutching at his face, as though he wanted to pull his soul out through his eyes. Slowly dropping to her knees beside him she reached out a hand, brushing the hair back from his face and his breathing slowed. I watched as he took a deep shuddering breath and sighed as if a huge weight had been taken from him. My eyes traveled up her arm to her face and I gasped, her eyes had filled with tears and they were slowly escaping and falling down her face. She slowly stood, turning our eyes met and behind the tears I saw a rage. A rage so strong that the ground started to shake and the lights overhead flickered ominously. A low growl escaped from her lips “what kind of monster do this to another?!” The man at the other end of the building shrunk down in fear as she paced menacingly towards him. As she stood over him she spoke “Because you inflicted this pain, I’m now giving it back to you so that you know what its like and never use your body in such an unwanted way again. Apparently you must feel it to fully understand what makes it so wrong” She reached out a finger and stroked it down his quivering cheek. The gesture was gentle, but the result was the opposite. As his eyes filled with tears and his hands started to shake, she turned without a second glance backward, helped the boy up and walked him out of the school. Her ripped jeans and leather jacket blending in with the surroundings. But I knew, she wasn’t just a part of the background and smiled, knowing my friends would all be safe again, this empath is our badass new student counselor.
