Favourite Bones Episodes: 6x16 - The Blackout in the Blizzard

I didn’t watch Bones until it was in syndication, but yeah, then it was one of those shows I would watch every day at a certain time. Right now, I watch it with my kids. We all love it. My son especially enjoys the way the scientists deal with social interaction, as a kid who is on the autism spectrum, I think he sees himself reflected with them in different ways. 

But as for the relationship between Booth and Brennan? I think it’s great. I think I missed some episodes in the middle where they developed the relationship, but I like how they built respect for each other, despite being very different kinds of people. I like how modern Brennan is and how Booth is a bit of a traditionalist, and being with Brennan has opened his mind a lot. And how Brennan has learned how to let people in and understand emotions and not be afraid of them because Booth is so direct and passionate. It’s a nice partnership between equal and complementary people. I like how they’ve had to deal with differing philosophies on life and different religious backgrounds and different class backgrounds and the struggle between feminism and patriarchy. 

I don’t particularly like the procedural shows where the main characters are put in danger, because I just think that’s overwrought and we could have emotional stakes without having our heroes constantly being the targets of serial killers who are steadily more formidable, even against the supergenius who is Bones. But hey, that’s tv for you. You shrug your shoulders and wait for the next episode where they’re actually solving mysteries again.
