The familiar call of a certain Onmyoji’s voice has him halting his trek and swiveling out of the way of a blissfully unaware wanderer who nearly topples the gentle spirit over. Luckily for them both Ichimokuren is a lot sturdier than one would suspect him to be. It’ll take more than brute force and some careless footwork on his part before he greets the ground in an unwarranted visit.
❝ Seimei-Dono. Your timing is impeccable. Just this morning I thought, I should like to visit with him again. Check up on Seimei and see how he’s adjusting to the environment. Are you faring well? ❞ His hand flourishes from out of his sleeve and slips up to grasp at Seimei’s wrist, an act to further tether one to the other. He then shuffles around and sets his palm against the mortal’s lower back and hastily guides him out of the way from yet another inattentive stranger.
❝ I’d be more than happy to help in any way I can but I think it might be wise to resume elsewhere. The streets are far too crowded this time of day. Not the ideal spot for us to talk. ❞
it seems to be a running trend of spirits and companions alike guiding him from his wayward course, his uncanny ability to land himself in less than favorable positions only making such an endeavor that much more difficult. still, there’s an appreciative hum that sounds as ren navigates the crowd and even with the slightest manhandling, he pays no mind: it’s much better than being trampled by humans and monsters who would do so without a moment’s hesitation. a smile bleeds from his lips and into his tone, almost touched that he’s in such a busy spirit’s thoughts.
“ i certainly hope that i haven’t made the impression on you that i need to be monitored; please don’t worry yourself with thoughts about me when there are undoubtedly more pressing things that require your time. someone like me should be forced to adapt if i cannot do so willingly. ” ----- courtesy, idly thumbing the seam of his sleeve as he speaks and it’s with a laugh that he bites comments towards himself. the beacon of onmyodo, or so he’s been told, shamelessly relying on his shikigami for help... that certainly wouldn’t bide well with the people of kyoto.
