water alone is sadly non hydrating unless u take it directly from the river or maybe from the tap. But the ones that comes on bottles has been submitted to a procedure that gets rid of electrolytes and our body NEEDS electrolytes in order to hydrate. that's why in the hospitals they dont give u water when u r in a bad condition, they give u the serum which is basically water, salt, some bicarbonate (and sugar, a lot of sugar, which i disagree bc it's made to "rush" the recovery). so if u want to hydrate someone, always reccomend stuff that has electrolytes

I mostly drink tap water, so that takes care of that. Serum shouldn't have carbs by default, they usually add glucose to the mix when needed. As a diabetic I have to agree, adding glucose can do more harm than good.
