The speed of jazz music, 50s-60s, by Francine Winham
hi! my friend sent me ribbit & i am immediately enamored by your style 🫶🫶 the way some parts (like the background and some scenes) have less lines than others makes it all look so smooth, the music and sound effects are Classic Cartoon, and i LOVE the extra little photos of the characters in the end credits. it's like an instant classic to me, and it reads really well as being about not being afraid to exist out loud, and not being afraid of The Other just because you're told to be. can i ask about what inspired you to make that cartoon? (i'm omw to go watch some of your other works now 🚗)
Oh my gosh. I'm so happy you and your friend liked it! I'm relieved the themes read the way I intended. It's based on a specific chapter from a book my sister is writing! It's called "Seen" and she's working on getting it published now. I've also been heavily influenced by classic 40s and 50s cartoons. Thank you for your question. Made my day.

I have a technical question, if that's allowed. I think your animations are really well aligned with both the music and the sound effects, and I wonder about the process? Is the music composed for the animation? Do you collaborate with people that make that music so it fits so well together? Are the effects custom-made, or do you take those from some library? Are they public domain? That's not one question lol, sorry! But I'm really curious.
Thank you for the question! I'm just starting out so I don't have a definite process. And I most definitely don't have the rights to the sounds or music I use. Most of the time I just listen to certain songs over and over again, trying to think of visuals that could go with it. But yeah, most of the time I try to make a story on top of existing music.
