Did waterboy actually not know how to tie his tie or was he just slightly concussed from literally getting hit by a car on his way in the building
But also can you imagine sitting there trying to put your brain back together and lock in for a job interview for your DREAM JOB after getting hit by a car and your hands arenât working quite right and fucking MECHAMAN shows up and ties your tie for you and gets so close to your face and are you dreaming? isnt this guy dead? Is this real? you have to be so normal right now
Watermech rambling
Based on this prev post. (and yes I'm hc-ing Toxic's civilian name to be Orin)
I do not lie; I seriously love stories/ideas where Robert has a tragic or abusive love-life. It very much fits his character of thinking he doesn't "deserve" things.
Meanwhile, Herman is over here being the protagonist of a slice-of-life anime - trying to make the world a better place despite being clumsy with an awkward power. Bringing a smile to Robert's face when he's at his most flustered. And destroying vending machines when Robert is already having a tough day.
Robert, internally: "Ah, Herman's such a nice guy. I can't let him get stuck on some broken depressed has-been like me." Herman, also internally: "I would kill a man just to see him smile." :3
Like!!! Look at the face Robert does when Herman is just being his sweet dorky self!
I also love AUs that approach Waterboy having a yandere/overprotective and/or criminal side not seen on the surface. Remember that glitch that gives him a criminal record?
Punch Up: "Okay, Phenomaman I could get. What with being a heartbroken public nuisance - but how in the fuck are YOU in the Phoenix Program?!" Waterboy, neutral tone: "I killed a man." Z Team: "..." Z Team: (*start laughing hysterically!*) Golem: "Told ya he came with jokes." Waterboy: "..." Invisigal, laugh petering out: "A-ha ha... guys..? I don't think he's bluffing." Z Team: "...?" ( 0_0) Waterboy: (*doesn't elaborate. continues cleaning*)
The Z Team would be the devils on Waterboy's shoulder, encouraging him to chop a mf'er into plant food. Its their way of wingmanning. They'll even hide the evidence for him if its done to protect Robert.
Toxic Baby AU
Aka a Pregnant!Robert au where he is not in a relationship with the baby daddy.
tw for nsft talk, implied abusive relationship, and medical grossness.
Robert didn't make many great choices.
Hooking up with one of his Red Ring contacts was one of them.
In hindsight, the guy (I'm tempted to make Toxic's human name Orin or smth) was a little too comfortable with his criminal history. Fresh out of jail, proud of his connections, hungry for the touch of another... it was an easy catch for Robert, honestly.
Robert should have stopped reeling him in once he was in the apartment. But he was hungry for touch too.
It wasn't just a one night thing either. Robert didn't want to rock the boat until he could confirm the toxic man wasn't just speaking out of his ass, and could actually lead him to Shroud. And if that meant inviting the poison man (in both power and personality) into his bed, then he was willing to go for it.
Even if the man hurts him in more ways than one. (It's not the first time a relationship has left Robert bloodied and self-loathing.)
The night Toxic got tied to that lawn chair, he thought it was just some kinky fun with his regular booty call. Lets just say he was fearing for his life, and just a little bit smug, when he learned the fine piece of tail he pulled was actually Mecha Man. Cus' now he's pretty cure Shroud would kill him if he knew about it.
Toxic doesn't pull his punches, despite the prior connection to Robert. Maybe even punches harder.
Mecha Man still escapes that night, only to explode over Los Angeles.
Robert's body crashes multiple times while in the ED. Besides the injuries sustained in both the crash and the explosion, something is wrong. Something is poisoning him, and it isn't an infection.
Once his health finally stabilises enough for regular monitoring, the medical team are shocked to find an unaccounted passenger...
Robert is... not having a fun time to say the least.
He develops Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) - morning sickness so bad the doctors have to put him on IV fluids and vitamins injections until he can gain enough weight to go home. Most of his four month hospital stay is less from a coma, and more from nausea that leaves him bedridden. Doctors also warn him that there's a huge risk of internal scarring, with or without his body adapting to the baby's powers.
Robert's health spikes so badly that the doctors' offer to terminate the pregnancy. Robert is stubborn.
Chase/Trackstar got contacted the first time Robert seemed like he was going to cross the rainbow bridge. Robert told him about the baby, and Chase was all on board to yeetus that fetus for his lil bro's health. But Robert wants to give them a chance. Even if the sperm donor is a piece of shit villain made of toxic sludge who treated him poorly.
Robert knows he can't be out in the field in his current state. And so does Blonde Blazer. The Mecha Man suit is still being repaired. If Blue can't pilot, he can teach someone to take up the mantle.
In the interim, he can try to herd a group of ex-cons into doing good.
All while feeling like he's about to barf at any moment.
+Theres a lot of reply action about this AU in this post, feat; @i-used-to-wear-the-fedora, @nofucknway135, @fandom-skellyweirdo-jumper, and @long-distance-muse I want to shout out!
The baby ends up having a floral-leaning name; Marigold, Susanna (aka "Sunshine"), Daisy, Amaryllis ("Amy"), or Bella(donna). Robert just sees her and immediately thinks she's the most perfect thing on earth.
Even with the severe morning sickness; Robert craves salty acidic foods. Pickles, citrus fruits, vinegar, etc. Robert has shamefully drunken Lemon-Pickle Brine slushies before. He also craves mushrooms and seeds - a side effect of his body trying to leech the excess toxins from the baby out of his body. The Z Team have gained favours from Robert by offering him jars of pickles.
The birth likely occurs a few weeks/months into Robert's employment at SDN. And was premature.
The birth was not fun. Robert nearly died. He develops internal scarring that severely impacts his health and fertility going forward. (The condition is called Asherman's and while treatable, is not fun)
The Z Team were genuinely scared that they'd lose their dispatcher. Celebrations were held once both Robert and baby were in the clear.
The poison the baby emits is akin to Furanocoumarin - an alkaloid found in citrus and parsnip-family plants. Completely harmless when in the damp and dark, but creates a blistering chemical burns on the skin when exposed to sunlight (phytophotodermatitis) aka "Margarita Burns".
The baby's power manifests just after birth. Kangaroo care/skin contact is very difficult and must be done in short bursts less the holder's skin be permanently damaged.
Robert is really upset that he can't hold his baby for too long without gloves or coverings. Nursing is only possible with nip shields (like the kind used for teething babies). Robert's emotions are very haywire afterwards.
The Z Team step up to help co-raise Robert's baby. It's quickly discovered that Bruno (made of mud), Colm (thick skin + healing factor), Malevola (doesn't mind pain), and Herman (watery healing shield) can hold her without protection. Hands and faces still get the odd burn or two from trying to hold and/or kiss the baby without PPE.
Any bedding and/or clothes in contact with the Baby get bleached and discoloured from her corrosive sweat.
Waterboy/Herman has a few bonus workarounds to the baby's power. His watery healing sweat washes it off before it can affect his skin. He can also heal the burns left behind...
Robert: (*Exhausted, is disinfecting burns left on his arms and chest from holding the baby*) Herman: "Oh! Robert! You- you're hurt!" Robert, tired smile: "Yeah. Little lady sweats acid or something. I'm managing it." Herman: "I- I can fix it- help!" Robert, curious: "How exactly?" Herman: (*takes Robert's hands and kisses them, leaving small patches of Holy Water Spit on the wounds*) Robert, confused and a lil grossed out: "Um. Waterboy, what are you do-" (*pauses with shock*) (*the burns on Robert's hands and arms begin to heal, leaving almost zero scar tissue. Herman looks cautiously pleased with himself*) Herman: "Did- did I do well- good?" Robert: (*stunned silent. tears well in his eyes*) Herman: "Oh. Oh no. I mess- screwed up didn't I?" Robert, trying to pull himself together: "No. You didn't do anything wrong, Herm. I just... I wasn't sure how I was going to manage that." Herman, carefully: "Do... do you want me to keep heal- helping you?" Robert, touched: "I'd like that." ;_;
It turns out the healing spit also gives Robert a mild Vigor boost, so he's less likely to burn when holding the Baby. He is overwhelmed with gratitude. Herman is understanding - he knows what it's like having a power you can't "turn off".
Waterboy slowly becomes a stepdad/the dad who stepped up. Romantic relationships for Robert may extend to other members of squad too.
Something; metaphor for leaving a toxic (heh) relationship and finding people that help heal you.
Shroud is about to rip Toxic's balls off. If the Z Team don't do it first. 22 Jump Street scene ensues when Shroud finds out - Visi is Channing Tatum in that scene. (https://youtu.be/kxCkgCwyVvY?si=0vHcXEiziZTAYVtH)
Discussion and ideas welcome!
Baby girl is physically toxic but her dad still loves her so much. The Z team definitely helps with their poison dart frog of a baby. Maybe as a side effect of who her bio father was, she ends up with bright green eyes/hair. Kind of like the natural coloring of poisonous animals. I imagine she absolutely adores being held by Waterboy because he doesn't freeze up the same way her dad does when he holds her. He can't feel the pain. And when even Robert can't get her to calm down, she'll instantly calm down when Herman holds her.
Malevola loves the baby, especially when she finds out her spit is mildly acidic. Gives her the nickname "Acid Gun" despite Robert's protests against it. Bruno has parenting tips for Robert, his baby has just figured out she can make a water stream with her spit. Their daughters love to play together. They don't have to worry about hurting each other because superhuman babies are a lot tougher than normal babies. Colm and CoupĂŠ get mild baby fever when Robert asks them to take care of her last minute.
CoupĂŠ: She's beautiful....Colm, I demand you impregnate me at once.
Colm, choking on his drink: Huh?
Toxic doesn't want the baby or to be in its life in any way shape or form. But, jackass that he is, he is pissed off at Waterboy for "taking what's his". The Z team as a whole are more than happy to tell him to fuck off.
Baby Bella (im attached to that name idea) is like holding a baby blue ring octopus or cobra. Adorable, but one wrong move could equal extreme pain.
Beef has learned not to lick the baby. Our best boi looks like he bit a wasp each time he forgets and tries slobbering her with kisses. His fur thankfully provides enough of a barrier that Bella's toxins can't really affect his skin.
I love the idea of her having bright green eyes, and bright hair as a form of aposematism - warning those around her "do not touch! is poisonous!". Def dyes her hair whacky rainbow colours the moment she's old enough.
@throw-me-in-the-void; suggests that if she ever has a "fully toxic" form, she would be a bright Astral Pulse-blue. Robert and the team help design her corrosive-resistant clothing/costumes so she can maintain modesty while using her powers.
Bella is 100% a Daddy's Girl, particularly to Waterboy. She adores Robert more than anything, but sometimes he needs his soggy wetman to calm her down.
Bella: (*crying til her face is pink*) Robert, exhausted, holding her: "Sweetie, you've been fed and changed. What more could you want?" Robert: (*thinking*) Robert: "Oh." Herman: (*turns up at Robert's apartment like ten minutes after getting a text*) Herman: "She can't sleep?" Robert: "Yep." Herman, takes her: "Say no more." Bella: (*cries instantly calm into hiccups as Herman holds her close*) Robert: "She definitely has a favourite." Herman, bashful laugh: "I- I mean maybe her powers make her feel itchy- sore. Water helps." Robert, accidentally makes inside thought an outside thought: "If this keeps happening, we should just get married and move in together. Herman, flustered: "Wh-what?" Robert: (*crashes asleep on the couch*)
Suddenly imagery of Robert kissing his daughter on the face/head, his lips start burning, and Herman swoops in to heal it before giving the baby a kiss too. It's like a ritual for them.
Malevola is convinced Bella is the coolest baby she's ever met. She can literally spit acid like a cobra! Bruno and Robert being new parents to destructive babies, just happy to support each other through the parenting journey.
Coupe's baby fever is triggered when Colm is babysitting for the day. Bella's toxin doesn't hurt him too badly - more like a mild nettle sting. And Colm takes this opportunity to be the goofiest, most adoring uncle figure ever - blowing raspberries on the baby's face and tummy, pretending to lift her like a barbel, and pretending to lose in arm wrestling. Coupe is just in love. She knows her short king would be an amazing father. <3
Toxic really doesn't give a crap that he knocked up a booty call - famous hero or not. But he has shared extensive blackmail of his and Robert's time together that would get him killed if Shroud knew about it. in a way, he sees getting Mecha Man pregnant as a "win" in his books, even if he has no interest in meeting the kid. (He does get a little twinge in his chest when he sees security videos of Robert and the Z Team adoring the baby, despite her toxic body. Makes him feel weird.)
Toxic is though, hypocritically, very jealous of Waterboy.
Toxic, spying: "Who is that moist twink kissing Robert? And why is his dick bigger than mine!?" >:(
Hilarious if it ever turned out Waterboy's water power denatured/diluted Toxic's. About to humble this villain with the power of Soggy Dad who Stepped Up.

The thing about Flambert is, theyâd BOTH benefit from scary dog privileges. But to Flambae, Robert would 100% be the scary dog.
Truly? AU where Robert waits longer to tell the team heâs Mecha Man. They run into one another at the Crypto, after getting graciously unbanned.
Flambae just rolls his eyes, grabs everyoneâs drinks, and struts his way past Mecha Man without looking back once.
It takes Robert a full 2 minutes to process this.
âWhy am I not dying in blaze of glory and agony right now?â
Flambae scoffs, one hand on his hip, the other holding his phone like itâs a weapon, eyes set in a glare. Robert tries not to notice the deep sunset tones, the blazing sunshine under them. He fails.
âGo ahead bitch, â keep trying me. Iâll call my man SO fast. â
ââŚYou are aware youâre completely capable of sending me in another coma. Right?â
âDuh, no shit. But I literally saw him rip someoneâs temple out. Iâd LOVE to see what he does to you! Except not, cause. Thatâs gross.â
Phenomaman solemnly nods behind him, arms crossed. âIt is very disturbing to witness.â
Prism snorts, good natured, âCalling him your man without going on a single date is crazy work.â
And Flambae does blush, â or his ears do, glowing magma red, and he grumbles. âIâm working on it! Just taking it slow! Not my fault Bob Bob needs a confirmation email when people flirt with him. â
Robert realises two things that induce a cold sweat down his spine:
1) Flambae is talking about him. About Robert Robertson. The guy whoâs been dispatching him for the last few months. Bantering with him over coms.
2) Heâd actually do it.
Okay, imagine Dad Robert {gets pregnant by a hero, who dies by the hands of *Dramatic psuse* A member of the Z-team before they joined the team. {it was a complete accident and they actually felt extremely bad about it, especially when they hear through a grapevine that the guy had a pregnant partner at home.
3 years went by and that person sees their new dispatcher and sees that he brought in a child mumbling how he couldn't take her to kindergarten due to an outbreak of measles and the person immediately freezes when they see that Robert's daughter has the exact eye colour than the hero they accidentally killed. Cue trauma happening and the guilt festering in their soul.
Tis an interesting concept, but I must offer an additional caveat:
Being a "good" Hero, doesn't necessarily make a good Person/Partner. See; that whole thing with the Todorokis.
The Z-Team member that indirectly killed Robert's partner is drowning with guilt, knowing for certain that one of their biggest mistakes left their new dispatcher widowed, and a child minus a parent.
Meanwhile, Robert is just like; "Oh thank god. Im still emotionally a lil messed up, but that was the most abusive relationship I was ever in. Now at least the baby won't have to deal with that."
Theres also the possibility of Robert's Ex not actually being dead, but pulling a "hero retirement" and going civilian without telling anybody - including Robert.
I did joke in a prev post about making a "Look Whos Talking" au of poor dad Robert! >:3 (does any really know who William Vanderstenk is?)
As for the baby themselves, it would be very cool if they were a mini-Robert sans the eyes. The eyes make me think maybe the other parent had ice powers (sapphire or icy blue). Maybe with slitted pupils like a cat/lizard, or completely fantastical with and odd iris shape.
Examples from Tv Tropes:
Bonus emotional damage if the lil kid adores the guilty Z Team member. Karma.
This is eating at my brain so now yâall get to suffer the brainworms with me.
Imagine running into them again! Like, Robertâs out with the team maybe a few months post-game celebrating something. The kid is with Chase so the adults can have some fun at bars or clubs or something and the team is close enough now that theyâve at the very least figured out that Robertâs âdeadâ spouse was a piece of shit. Theyâre out having a good time, jokes and jabs are thrown and returned in equal measure. And then someone tries to say something to Robert and they see that heâs frozen. Not just frozen, heâs fully in fight-or-flight and his body landed on freeze.
The rest of the team is quick to notice because they have never, not once seen him this scared before. Not since the hostage situation with Shroud. Thatâs the scary part for them. Before anyone can ask he gives some flimsy excuse and damn near runs from their area and probably goes to the bathroom. Maybe the group splits with some of the guys going after him and rest trying to find what he was looking at.
The group that follows him find Robert trying to prevent a full blown panic attack and not really succeeding. Theyâre trying to help while also trying to figure out what caused this but Robertâs not really in a place to be explaining things. What they do hear is a whispered âTheyâre supposed to be gone.â Whoever hears might be able to piece it together from there.
The group that stayed see some civies who just seem to be enjoying themselves. The tv is just showing some football game so itâs nothing like that. Then they look back at the civies and take notice of one. In particular they take notice of their eyes. The same eyes Robertâs kid has. From there they know what scared him.
Itâs not so much that Z Team is at a loss for what to do, the know exactly what they wanna do, its more so that they donât know what Robert would want them to do. This was his spouse, his abuser, not his problem to handle alone but his problem to decide how to address if he wants to at all. Would he want them to confront them or would he want them to be there while he confronted them? Would he want to interact with them at all and just leave the asshole out of his life forever more? Would he rather just find somewhere else to celebrate whatever they were celebrating or would he just wanna go home? He wouldnât get a choice about them hanging around if he wanted to go home. They need to make sure heâs actually okay before they leave him alone.
Just, what if? And what next? Where does the team go from there? Theyâll have to follow Robertâs lead on this one, like they always do.
Ohohoho this is delicious <3
Robert being hit with the horror that the person who scares him the most, perhaps even more than Shroud, is not only alive but HERE.
I feel like with their duspatcher clearly not in the mindset to lead them, the Z-Team have to buckle down and rub their collective braincells together.
They decide four major tasks:
Assess Robert's ex and their current identity. Visi is tasked with lifting their wallet + taking photos of the IDs while Malevola and Sonar distract them.
Call Chase. Odds are he knows enough about Robert's failed relationship to understand the severity of the situation. Plus they want Robert to know that his baby is okay.
Call Blazer. They want to double-check Hero So-and-So is really supposed to be dead. And if they are, then who tf is this person?
Get Robert out of the Bar. Now. Waterboy makes a scene of tripping over Golem and splashing the floor with water and mud. In the chaos, Prism and Coupe shuffle Robert out of there, shielding him from view.
The unspoken fifth goal they set themselves is to ensure Robert's ex never comes close to him or his child ever again.
But heroes tend to live dramatic lives, don't they? :)
Robert who loves his kid more than anything but when they wake him up in the middle of the night and the first thing he sees is their eyes staring at him, he can't help but be startled because of the connotations his brain has with those eyes. But it's fine now, really. His kid is almost five years old and he never really thinks of the other person those eyes used to belong to. Until the bar, at least. And any progress he made has gone out the window.
And he's not even worried about himself anymore. He's worried about something happening to his kid. His ex isn't above doing awful shit just to spite him. After sneaking out of the bar and going home, he finds Chase snoring on the couch with Robertson the 4th in his lap. Robert just, carefully picking his baby up and putting them into bed. Tucking their blanket in, before Robert crawls into bed with them and holds their kid tight, trying to block out any thoughts of possibly losing them.
If the Z team has anything to say about this, Robert will never hear or worry about the ex again. It's Visi who finds out that yeah, this guy is the same asshole Robert used to be with. And you know why he faked his own death? Because he was tired of "dealing" with Robert and the child he wanted no part of. This was the easiest way to get off scot-free. Even a year after their separation, when Robert was in a three-month coma and as far as they knew, the kid had nowhere to go, they still didn't show up to help Robert/their child. This pisses off the rest of the Z-Team so much that they make sure he never comes back to this side of California again.
Robert's progress of moving past his abusive relationship, while also raising his baby, gets so shaken up in a single night.
What if his Ex tries to contact them? What if they try to insert themselves back into their lives? What if they try arguing for custody of the baby?! It all sends him into a panic just thinking about it.
Even if the sight of those familiar eyes shoots him with fear, Robert holds his child close, afraid to let them go.
Chase is firm with the Z-Team on the matter; he doesn't care what they do, just keep that fucker FAR away from Robert and the baby.
Coupe: "I will eliminate the threat forthwith." Punch Up: "And barring that, I'll make sure to eliminate them from the gene pool!"
Robert does feel more at ease knowing he has a team of attack-heroes at his defence.
The tell-tale eyes being blue and starry/snowflake-like is perfect. The only difference is that the baby's eyes look at Robert with love.
I've been imagining Robert's Ex as someone with ice or mind-related powers, maybe both. "Brainfreeze" as their hero name - power to create paralysing chills in their targets like a medusa. Ironic if their supposed "killer" is someone immune like Flambae (runs hot) or Sonar (don't need eyes to see).
Not sure about gender of Robert's ex since one part wants them to be a bastard man, while the other part wants evil woman.
They actually aren't sure if Baby Robertson (may need a name lol, Robert would steer clear of "cold" names) has inherited this power, or if seeing the eyes of a supposedly-dead hero just freaks people out.
Brainfreeze not truly being dead would also explain why the "guilty" Z-Teamer wouldn't have their murder/manslaughter on their criminal record. Heroes and villains alike have faked their deaths in the past to go into what's essentially witness protection. A clean slate far from their dramatic persona. The records room at SDN probably have the truth buried somewhere in the files - which would be how Chase finds out Robert's ex really is alive, much to everyone's dismay. They wonder if it had been an act of cruelty or twisted kindness to abandon their expectant spouse to start anew elsewhere. Then again, why return if that was the case?
Lets be real, Shroud would use Robert's ex for a single scare/threat, and then blast a mf'er head clean off. He's a villain, but he knows what it's like being on the receiving end of pain and empty promises in a relationship. In his own weird way, Shroud would see killing Robert's ex as a trade off - he removes this cancerous pain from Robert's life, Robbie's death is forgiven just a little bit. And Robert may even thank him.
An even greater panic for the phoenix program family would be if Robert's Ex managed to pull one of the most common tactics of a terrible parent/spouse; familial kidnapping...
If the spouse were to do that wouldnât it just be labeled as a kidnapping?
Sure, theyâve got the same eyes, clearly thereâs some kind of relation there. But theyâre not registered anywhere. Robert wouldnât have them as any kind of contact or pick-up person. The kid (who Iâve decided to call Kiren cause it means âRay of lightâ) wouldnât recognize them. Would probably be fascinated by the fact that they have the same eyes but Robert wouldâve taught them about stranger danger and they mightâve been used as the bargaining chip in the Red Ring Incident. They would know better than to go with or listen to someone they donât know even if they are only, like, 4-5.
If their powers are mind related then they would have to use them to get to the kid. No reputable daycare or school would let someone not on the pick-up list just take a kid, no matter the obvious familial relation. Thereâs a reason they werenât put there and while the staff may not know it itâs their job to enforce it. Not to mention this guy is supposed to be dead! No sensible person would handover a kid to a dead person!
But imagine if they do get away with it. Theyâd probably call Robert, having gotten his number from somewhere, and after trying to chat him up he starts talking about Kiren and how itâs a shame the only thing they got from them was their eyes. He didnât even have the decency to name them after his dead spouse? Robertâs clearly panicking so Chase has to take the phone, immediately figures out what going on, and gets someone to issue an Amber Alert while he somehow convinces Robert to keep the asshole talking. Royd, Mandy, and Chase are trying to keep Robert calm while coordinating SDN or go through cameras to track the asshole down.
Z-Team drops/wraps up whatever they were doing the second they get the notif and whoever thought they killed the asshole the first time is about to actually do it. Everyone in the bullpen is coordinating their teams to either search or cover for teams that are searching. Even if they arenât close with Robert, someone attacked one of their own. The entire Torrence branch is searching for this guy and they are not gonna be unharmed by the end of this.
Yes, it would be legally a kidnapping, but treated by the authorities as a familal abduction similar to kids forcefully taken by parents without custody.
Thats what I was thinking with the "icy mental medusa" idea for their powers. Useful for a hero, very very dangerous in the hands of a less noble person. One look and the daycare worker/teacher's mind is literally frozen the second they get suspicious and try calling Robert.
And while kids can be taught Stranger Danger; studies and secret camera scenarios have shown that a good number of kids overwhelmingly still try to help/interact with strangers if they're kind enough. All it takes is for the Robertson babey to let their guard down is those cool eyes that look like their own, and a smile.
btw Kiren is an interesting name. Its sound like a common name here in Ireland; "Kieran/Ciara" aka "little dark haired one".
City-wide Amber Alert rings out the second the Ex gets their hands on Kiren. Its enough time for a mocking phone call - a screw up on the abductor's part, as Galen gets to business tracking the signal while Robert tearfully tries to keep them on the line.
The whole Torrance SDN branch + their allied public services are on high alert for this one dispatcher's child. And the Superhero Network as a whole is out for blood on the retired "hero".
If Robert's Ex is killed/arrested, I feel like it has to be the person originally thought guilty of their murder. Setting the record straight, while also showing them what a real hero is like.
Robert's ex is possessive. They don't really care about Robert's life outside of them. But at the bar that night, they see Robert with the Z team. They ward the way one of them curls their hand around the small of his back. A small peck on Robert's cheek. Robert laughs and leans into them. And it makes the ex angry. Jealous in a way they can't explain. He had their child. He was such a sad sack asshole who could barely do anything without them. Robert had their kid. How dare he move on?
It's not like they want to do anything too bad. Just teach Robert a lesson, maybe talk to him. Make a "miraculous" return. All he has to do is take their kid for a little trip. And the kid's excited. Of course he is. They have the same eyes. The teacher didn't have a problem with him picking up his kid. Most people don't have a problem if he asks them for something.
They're in his apartment, the kid watching something on the TV when he gets a text from Robert. The ex never changed their phone number since they "died." Of course, Robert would try to reach out to them. But he's acting so ungrateful and rude. He can't stop himself from calling and taunting Robert. He's a failure as a hero and as a father. They should just talk one on one and everything will be fine.
Robert isn't the only one who shows up. It's him and that entire team of villain rejects including the asshole who put them in a hospital. Said asshole is more than happy to do it again to show they're a "true hero." Whatever that means.
***
Robert is clinging to Kiren, sobbing and kissing his head, so happy he's okay. Kiren is confused but mostly unharmed despite everything his ex threatened. And now they're going to prison and he has the Z team who promise to never let this happen again. And this time, he actually believes them.
omg i love this addition sm ;_;
You are spot on with the characterisation I was intending for Robert's ex. Manipulative, used to getting their way, possessive but uninterested, and of course dangerously jealous of Robert's progressive way from them & moving on.
And they got bodied by an entire swat team of ex-villains protecting Robert and Kiren.
The media circus would be insane if word ever got out that a supposedly "dead" superhero was not only alive, but was caught having kidnapped his own child to force his ex partner (who he abandoned and let think he was dead) back to his arms. Oh, and the ex-supervillain who supposedly "killed" the super (and was led to believe they genuinely killed them) was a part of the arresting party.
Blazer basically puts the hurt down on any reporters or paparazzi who try to even breathe around Robert and/or Kiren. The Z Team are forming a wall of protective muscle like bodyguards.
Robert might need a break from work (finally figure out what PTO is) to mentally recover from such a traumatic incident. Kiren may not entirely understand what happened, but Robert explains it to them that the "man with the same eyes" was a villain and everyone was really scared.
Kiren hugs their dad tight. And makes their fave SDN team a big drawing of them all as thanks (even Galen is in there). That drawing is forever laminated and hung up in the bullpen to celebrate one of the branch's most successful save.
Hey so you know that genre of meme with some picture of a horse(or deer apparently), that has some sort of message for âWhite Boyâ?
These mfs:
Yeah, I just know that if/when the z team sees these, they will be getting sent to Robert constantly.
Despite his tech savvy, he does seem to be chronically offline, so I just imagine heâs extremely confused as to what prompted his team to take such a sudden interest in horses.
Robert calls in sick? The more likely scenario of Robert being sent home because heâs barely functioning at his desk? Malevola sends him this:
Prism planned an outing with Robert, and heâs running late? He will be getting this sent over text:
If Robert sees any of them send him this one, he knows that theyâve broken into his apartment again:
Flambae just sent him this one every shift for a week
This also feels like the one instance of âletâs torment Robertâ that chase would actually be cool with. Could even see him joining in on it lmao.
Robert is talking to Chase, and brings up how his team seems to have some weird new inside joke. Chase asks him âWhat plauges you white boy?â And Robert is a few words in when he realizes, but itâs too late, Chase has already pulled up the image on his monitor:
Someone sends this to Robert when they have to call in sick/is otherwise having a hard time.
Prism: "YOU'RE NOT MY TYPE"?! He says, "If you wanted to grab dinner, all you had to do is ask," and you said, "You're not my type"?!
Flambae: *groans* It was dumb. I know.
Prism:... You should write a book. How to fumble a basic white bitch in five syllables or less. "
Robert whoâs actually falling hard for Flambae, but since most of their conversations (and the lines Robert hears over the comms) involves Flambae talking about dating other men, or making fun of Robertâs appearance, he assumes he has no shot at wooing Flambae and simply chooses not to try. Itâs one less HR nightmare in the office, at least. And Robert has been long since comfortable with putting his work above all else, including potential partners.
Meanwhile, Flambae has been flirting with Robert nonstop for fucking months!! Talking about other loser men heâs hooking up with to make Bob Bob jealous, teasing and taunting Robert in an attempt to get âput in his placeâ, but how come none of it is working??!! What is he doing wrong?? Does he have to walk up to Robertâs cubicle naked for the message to get across or what??

Sesame Street posting techniques for comforting children during traumatic world events feels so fucking dystopian but here are the slides they posted just in case you or a loved one has any little critters at home right now
No one is doing well right now, but being a little critter right now has got to be terrifying. This is such a crushing series of images, especially considering PBSâs funding got slashed. While Iâm happy Sesame Street continues to keep the wellbeing and education of children as a major priority, thereâs a certain amount of innocence that Sesame Street represents and this is giving me such a visceral feeling rn
I agree with the criticism that Invisigal shouldnât have been a romance option because it ruins her motivation for wanting to be a hero. When she develops a crush on Robert, she fixates on his approval and encouragement, desiring more of it. Months before he came along, Blonde Blazer supported Invisigal, believing she could do better despite her repeatedly coming at the bottom of the leaderboard and causing problems. Although the Z-team grew closer after Robert joined SDN, they still kept Invisigal on their team before he became their dispatcher because they cared about her.Â
AdHoc also makes it Robertâs responsibility to redeem her, and if he doesnât shower her with enough forgiveness and support, then she becomes a villain. Invisigal gives up on becoming a hero purely because her crush didnât believe in her enough. She hinges her self-worth on Robert, who shouldnât be the only determining factor in what choices she makes. Even in the villain ending screencard, it states you, as Robert, âneglectedâ Invisigal, making you the sole reason why she returned to being a villain, almost as if the game is afraid of admitting she did this of her own accord.Â
However, throughout the game, AdHoc avoids acknowledging that her decisions are her own, treating her more like a troubled teenager than a 27-year-old who has full control over her life. They would rather infantilize Invisigal than give her a sense of agency, where she realizes it her fault that she keeps ending up in awful situations and never improving as a person.
Having Invisigal, a character with low self-esteem and worth, place her value on Robert was a poor choice because he shouldnât have been the solitary reason for whether she decides to continue pursuing heroism or returns to villainy to begin with.
I imagine the Roydbert babies' birth starts with Robert and Royd going in for a routine late term checkup, only for the doctor to be like "sooooo, we need to induce labor soon or else the babies are gonna be too big to come out without a c-section đŹ"
Jokes on them though, cause the babies decide to start coming before they even book the induction!
Prev.
Robert about to look like what a Kiwi bird be doing.
I don't know what way I love more; Robert getting that c-section, or him getting jumpscared by early labour.
Either way, he about be on that GOOD shit.
ty @painted-daisy-l0l, @extremelycolorfumind, @i-used-to-wear-the-fedora, and @nyxkeilantra for th choice replies. :3
Limits for natural birth (according to the Mayo clinic website) is typically over 8 pounds. So even if the babies can be born naturally, they have the likelihood of being chunky af.
The Z Team legit have no idea how a normie survives that, but Robert runs on defying expectations. Even Chase needs a moment to collect himself. How did Robert have two whole babies bigger than Beef combined? It scares a man.
They get a double-sized stroller so the babies can lie side by side when they go for walks. Royd lifts the top to reveal Beef who finagled his way in between the two and is sound asleep between them.
Royd: I didn't know we had triplets.
Robert: Me either. Then again, I didn't even remember my name when I had them.
Beef is their third child and the kids love him. He might as well be their slightly hairier sibling.
Such cute imagery with the double stroller! X3
Robert probably can't remember who was born first. He was hugging a bag of ice for most of the aftermath. XD
Generational differences!
I like that the first mom still wears the type of earrings she wore when she was a teenager :)
They need their internet access taken away
