hello, i'm star. i am female, and my pronouns are she/her. i'm not sure how to start an introduction. i don't want to overshare, but, i also want to let my personality shine.

i chose my username handle bluestarquartz1986 because i was born in 1986, and my birthday is on august 19th so my birth gemstone is a peridot. but, i thought it was cool that states have their own gemstones to.

so, starting off the cold open. rick and morty visit a forest that's ancient tree has "primo sap". [my reaction: maybe psychoactive? or psychedelic?]

while rick and morty chop away at the sap, the tree thinks rick and morty are locusts'.

rick says he thought the sap was accountability free[my reaction: you mean legal?], and morty explains they're just a couple of adventurers.

then the tree makes a comment about how humans consume their planet, and spread their sickness to the stars. and rick says they're clean, and morty says they just got tested. [my reaction: the tree could have responded it to that with "that's what they ALL say"]

then the tree makes rick and morty evolve [be reformed], first they reincarnate into amoeba.

[my reaction: CALLED IT!!!], and that's where the episode starts. morty should know by now from the megaseed tree in the pilot. if rick is excited about visiting a tree, plant, megaseeds, or sap...it's for recreational purposes.] then they realize they have to evolve their way out. they eventually evolve into fish, and eventually become lungfish which could live on dry land, then insects, then birds. but each time they die they have to start all over again.

they finally become monkeys and get into fights with the apes already there. morty dies, and rick just says "i'm doing this for the both of us, i'll find you when i find you". where's the caring rick from episode 3? or any of the protective ricks from earlier seasons? so we're back to the rick who don't care about morty at all? and the rest of the episode seems to be a solo-adventure morty teams up with other amoeba as they try to break out of the tree's prison they're in. let's meet the team! lol:

one was a scout for an orc species looking for planets to conquer,

another one was a scout for a sludge species looking for planets to conquer.

the last one says he was a touch different because he was a pod person looking for planets to conquer.

and morty introduction is that he was helping his grandpa get sap, and assumed it makes energy and gets you high.[my reaction: hmmm…"sap" that makes energy, and gets you high...that sounds familiar...]

meanwhile back to rick and the apes. rick is the new "king of the apes" forcing the wolves, and apes' to work at rick's hidden bar [speakeasy]..actually rick is using the apes to climb the tree.

mean while morty and the trio evolve a few more times, and when they become turtles morty decides to brave the rest of the cycle alone, and evolve on his own.

morty evolves into various undersea, and land lifeforms,eventually morty is back at the spot where the tree is, and is killed by the tree. and rick as an ape was secretly watching, and then jumps off the thing he was on and dies as well.

in the cold opening rick, summer, and morty go to an all-you-can-eat intergalactic buffet with alot of food, and bottomless beer. it's cool to see rick hanging out with both of his grandkids. the trio start arguing, and rick says one of the most hilarious line ever:

[my reaction: 🤣*bursts out laughing*]

while they were leaving, rick and summer go through the portal, and morty stays behind complaining that they drove there. rick sticks his head through the portal, and after rick and morty banter the portal closes and rick's head falls off. and that's where the show starts.

morty and summer simultaneously freak out and both are like "OH GOD!" because rick's head is with morty, and rick's torso is with summer. summer has to figure out how to disable rick's torso's self destruct mode.while summer and rick's torso kick alien butt, there's a breaking news that rick's head kidnapped morty.

rick's torso made one of the aliens disarm his weapon by giving him a hug, and summer mentions that's usually not rick's M.O and asked if hugging someone really disarms them, and rick's torso hugs summer.

meanwhile now morty and rick kick alien butt by rick's heads eye lazers.

rick's torso gives summer a letter telling her that rick's head gets in the way of rick's torso saying "i love you". [my reaction: right words to the wrong grandchild...morty was the one who needed to know that rick does love and care about him.]

and when morty, and rick's head shows up they talk about how it was great getting to team up, and putting their heads together. rick's head and rick's body start to become one again but, rick's head, and rick's torso start fighting each other.

summer, and morty realize that rick's head, and rick's body are each happy own their own, and are trying to kill each other so they never have to go back. summer asks morty if morty, and rick's head that a great day too, and morty says it was the best.

in the ship summer and morty argue about rick's head vs rick's body, and summer says rick's head treats rick's body like crap. rick's head tells morty to stop calling, and everything is fine. he's just looking for a new body.

morty; "maybe they'll realize they both need each other?" oh the irony! that quote comes from MORTY of all people! WHEN ARE RICK AND MORTY GOING TO REALIZE THEY BOTH NEED EACH OTHER!?

meanwhile. rick's head and rick's body start fighting again, and morty and summer show up to get rick's head, and rick's body to stop trying to kill each other.

so, the episode starts off with rick stumbling around drunk off his butt, slurring, and everything. and he tries to type his password into the computer but, ended up activating lockdown mode.he yells for morty to fix it, and morty says he don't know what to do.

we get to see what morty goes through with rick when he's drunk, and the emotional and mental abuse. it shows that rick acts VERY different from sober rick. [my reaction: rick is lucky morty didn't snap and put a chip in rick's brain while was black out drunk like eyepatch "evil" morty did to evil rick waaay back in earlier seasons']

then rick gets a call from someone named reese,and all of a sudden rick, and morty are happy again, and excited about hanging out with reese.

reese, rick, and morty go fishing, and rick gets mad at morty for forgetting to bring marshmellows for the camp out, and reese tells rick he should be more patient with morty, and rick actually apologizes to morty.

and the trip is cut short because reese says he has to work, and they all 3 go back to rick's garage, and morty wants to hangout with reese more. and it turns out reese is a robot rick and morty get into another argument, and it ends with morty stomping off to his room, and screaming into a pillow.

when morty sees that rick is going to destroy reese. i'm surprised morty never brought up the rickbot. so morty tries to save reese from being destroyed by rick.

so starting off the episode; beth and jerry's plot is going to have to do with hiring a pool guy to clean jerry's pool that looks like a pool full of crap and vomit LOL, and rick and morty's plot [YAY] is apparenyly rick is taking morty to boob world. just like old times...this has earlier season vibes.

rick and morty come out of trader joes, and then they start on the way to boob world but, then back into another car.and he and another elder guy get into an argument. maybe someday we'll see what boob world looks like. anyway moving on. so, the old guy turns out to be a kungfu artist, and used the exploding heart technique on rick where if he takes five steps forward his heart will explode. so rick starts walking backwards.

the argument rick and morty have in the garage is funny lol. it gives of the classic early rick and morty vibes. i'm glad to see the two finally hanging out again. then morty meets the old kung fu guy and learns his name is liu sin, and he offers to teach morty the art of kung fu.

back at liu sin's dojo he teaches morty some relaxing breathing technique, and morty complains that living with rick causes anxiety [my reaction:oh shut up mortimer you love rick and you know it lol] well the cable guy comes out and explains to mr. sin that he didn't have the right cables to hook up the flat screen TV, and that it will cost extra, and liu son does the exploding heart technique on the cable guy, kills him...it turns out liu sin is CRAZY!

back at the garage rick makes a suit so he won't have to walk forward, and morty comes crying to rick saying he was death punched by liu sin.

morty explains that he went back to trader joes to eat his feelings because he was mad, and liu sin punched him [my reaction: just remember everytime you leave rick morty you get with the craziest psychos! planetina, liu sin...]

[my reaction; AWWWWWWWWWW i love the rare scenario of rick being so sweet to morty]. rick says he's going to cure the "death punch" then he's going to destroy liu sin's entire beliefe system.

rick and morty go meet a guy named gerd jergins who trained liu sin, and rick explains he wants to do a lot of science on the punch to cure themselves.

but, eventually rick and morty are cured.

starting off we see rick going to a bar. everyone there knows him as "ted'. this is literally the meaning of "out of character" lol. it don't feel like a rick and morty episode. this episode is kinda boring. it's just not what i watch the show for. but, anyways.

hologram rick explains to "ted" that every summer he wipes his memory of everything but his weapons, and takes two weeks off to go on vacation as someone else. this must be an alternate version of rick because last season rick finally got the family he always wanted, and i thought he had improved, and was learning how to move on from his past? he had closure, and was at peace, and happier.

why do writers build up rick's character development only to tear it down, and hit the "reset" button. at least in earlier seasons rick abandoned the family, and morty he had a reason. the first time he left was in season 2 he left to turn himself in to the intergalactic police so that his family can get back to earth since they were stranded on 'tiny planet".

the second time he left was in season 5 when he and morty got into an argument over the portal gun, and rick decided to go off with two crows. i thought rick had decided to stop running? what is he running from/to now? he moved on from diane, he killed rick prime, he has no reason to run away now.

hologram rick explains to "ted" that he can take the red-i mean press the red button, and be rick again, or press the blue button, and continue as ted.

there's a scene where morty calls "ted" on the leg phone to tell him to get in the egg ship so he can go back home, and be rick again before something bad happens.

in the end "ted" does go back home, and he chooses to press the red button to be rick again. the conversation between "ted" and morty is pretty nice. "ted" tells morty he'll press the red button for him. so that morty can have his grandpa rick back.

'ted" asks morty if rick is better at this than he is, and morty tells him he is, and gives him a pep talk. i think morty telling "ted" that they all really love him[rick] is what makes "ted' decide to press the red button, and become rick again.

after "ted" presses the button morty asked if it didn't work, and an unhappy rick says "it did" i'm wondering if that reset his whole personality, and all that character development is gone now? seriously, what was the point of season 8 then? so, they gave rick a whole season where he learns to move on. for nothing?

i like the cold open where we see morty walking in on rick texting, and rick's like "what's that. pal?" that's one way morty knows something's up lol. it's hilarious how rick and morty fight over morty trying to get a glimpse of rick's phone, i'm glad the season starts focusing on rick AND morty. just like the show SHOULD be i hope the rest of the season continues that. i'm mostly only going to focus on the rick and morty interactions. because all of season 8 i had to read reviews of mostly OTHER characters so guess what? season 9? IS RICK AND MORTY TIME

so, rick and morty wrestle and rick's phone drops revealing the screen, and a text from evil morty pops up. last time evil morty was in an episode it was season 7 "unmortricken" and the last thing he told rick before heading off to the finite curve was him explaining why he didn't destroy rick with the omega device then, and there. his quote was "you're different though rick, maybe i can use that someday" well…i guess 'someday" has come

in the season 9 premiere…anyway, back to this episode. so of course after rick and morty banter about rick texting evil morty. rick explains that evil morty threatens to erase the smith family unless rick helps evil morty with "stuff".

then after rick's phone buzzes and rick and morty are still bantering, evil morty shows up and this dialogue happens

"rick and morty for 100 years rick and morty doing rick and morty things" remember that? lol.no one else JUST RICK AND MORTY. morty was always attached to rick's hip...figuratively and sometimes literally *winks*

so, when rick evil morty, and morty prime go through the portal we see what rick was talking about, and evil morty explains to morty if anything happens to him then he will use the omega device and the smith family and rick will be gone forever across infinite universes. so, i'm guessing when evil mortysaid there was something different about rick he was referring to rick actually cares about his family. no other rick whent so far as to hunt down rick prime who murdered beth and diane c-137 but, rick c-137 did. so, now morty knows rick c-137's weakness is the smith family.. but, he can't include morty because if morty is wiped out that would include evil morty as well.

evil morty explains to rick and morty prime that the reason they are there is because evil morty wants rick to defeat a guy who calls himself the collective who is eating the multiverse, and is reaching the finite curve. i was kinda wondering if unity would show up lol. the collective vs the hive...that sounds like it would have been cool. ANYWAY. after that morty learns that this isn't the first time rick and evil morty teamed up together, and they all go out for space waffles.

i like their conversation at the waffle house evil morty and rick telling morty prime about their partnership, morty prime acting jealous, then rick goes to the restroom, and then evil morty and morty prime talk. i've seen plenty of lifetime psychological thriller movies to know evil morty is trying to get into morty's head, and trying to get him to reveal HIS weakness. because evil morty's done with rick, the collective is defeated, and evil morty found his new pawn...morty prime

my reaction: morty is always wanting independence from rick. but, the idea of rick no longer being part of his life is sometrhing morty prime fears the most. even though he chooses rick every time, but complains about it.

my reaction: and there it is. morty prime's weakness? his unconditional love, and unwavering loyalty to rick.

my reaction: a morty that grew tired of rick's crap, and another morty seeking to become more independent from rick.

my reaction: they both can do whatever they want. morty prime had a way out a few times. birdperson, the vindicators, evil morty himself, but he always went back to rick while evil morty snapped and murdered HIS rick . morty prime chose rick c-137 everytime.
