The Samoa Squash Rackets Association received a $3,000 sponsorship from BlueSky Samoa, to assist them in their preparations for the Oceania Squash Cup to be held in Norfolk Island. 

The tournament, which will be held from the 7th to the 11th of October, will see some of Oceania’s finest squash players go head to head in Singles and Doubles competitions for both Men and Women.

BlueSky Chief Technical Officer, Alex Abraham, handed the cheque over to the team, and challenged them to aim high and aim for gold in the upcoming tournament.

“Squash is a sport that requires skill along with fitness and stamina and I am confident that the team has those and more.  On behalf of BlueSky, I would like to wish you all the best in the Norfolk Islands.”

Masoe Norman Wetzell, President of the Samoa Squash Rackets Association, was present to receive the sponsorship from BlueSky, which consisted of a cheque for $2,000 and warm up gear for the team, and thanked the management and staff of BlueSky on behalf of the Association.

Apia, SAMOA, Monday July 1st 2013: BlueSky Samoa today announced its sponsorship of promising young local golfer, Niko Vui, son of Garry and Mosiula Vui of Vaivase Uta.

Niko Vui's potential to become a promising golf player was realized by his parents at the tender age of 18 months.  Now, aged 17, he has since succeeded in winning tournaments in Samoa, New Zealand and Australia, and has played extremely well in the USA at junior tournaments.  He placed 4th equal at the Junior World Masters in Las Vegas, his best placing yet! His dream is to become the first Samoan to play in the Masters tournament in Augusta and to win a PGA tour tournament.  It seems hard work and excellence come naturally to Niko, who is also a straight A honors student, despite the amount of time he commits to his training and away from school travelling for tournaments.

BlueSky's sponsorship, valued at $10,000, goes towards Niko's tournament costs this year where he will represent both Samoa and American Samoa.  Aside from his sporting promise and commitment, the fact that Niko represents both Samoas made Niko a natural choice as a brand ambassador for BlueSky.  BlueSky Country Manager/COO, Toleafoa Douglas Creevey, stated today, "Niko's passion and commitment to his sport and education make him a great role model not only for his young peers but also for anyone who has a dream.  BlueSky is happy to support this young man and his journey to bear both the Samoa and American Samoa flags into the competitive golf arena.  We're proud of him and wish him well."

BlueSky Samoa has announced the appointment of Chief Operations Officer, Toleafoa Douglas Creevey, as their new Country Manager.  The appointment was made by BlueSky Communications President and BlueSky Samoa Chairman, Aoe’e Adolfo Montenegro.  Mr. Montenegro recognized Toleafoa’s contributions to his executive team since the launch of BlueSky Samoa two years ago and is confident that Toleafoa will rise to the occasion and play an instrumental role as their new and first ever Country Manager.

  In his new role, Toleafoa will be taking full responsibility for the development and growth of BlueSky Samoa in the Samoan market – which is BlueSky’s biggest market at present.  He will guide BlueSky Samoa as it takes a step forward to becoming an Organization with an embedded continuous change capability, an Organization that looks at continuous improvement for increasing efficiency, and an Organization that continues development for sustainable growth.

Tole’afoa has international expertise in the Telecommunications mobile industry at senior management level, and hands-on experience in planning, rolling out, operating and managing of wireless networks. He has 20 years of experience in telecommunications mobile service providers including a proven track record in delivering results; managing teams and projects in technical design, implementation and network operations in challenging environments in both developed and developing markets including the South Pacific Islands, New Zealand, Asia and the Middle East.

He has worked for various Telecommunications companies across the Pacific including 5 years at VODAFONE (New Zealand) managing the country’s mobile network design and rollout team and left as Head of Facilities Management as well as Telecom Cook Islands.
