This is such a fucking dangerous precedent, holy shit.

If they pursue this, it means that any president can do whatever the FUCK they want in their last days, and there is a precedent for letting them get away with it. As long as they're out of the Whitehouse before impeachment charges can be brought against them, it means they get off Scott free. It also means that if a president does something impeachable, and then quits, that theyre also able to dodge accountability and legal ramifications.

You’ll talk to an aide, not the actual senator. Don’t be an asshole to them, no matter how awful your senator is. Think of them as the guy stocking shelves - no matter how much you hate the store, yelling at that guy won’t help. Just say what you think the senator should do and if you want, add a couple of sentences about why. That’s really all you need.

Instead of saying, “Vote to convict,” you might make a smaller ask. Say, “I want Senator ___ to push for a full investigation with testimony under oath from key witnesses, including Mr. Trump.”

State that you are a resident in their state. I usually give my city. If you’re a registered voter, say so. If you’ve voted in the last election, say so. If you’ve been otherwise politically active in US elections say so. (Mentioning that you marched in a BLM protest won’t help. Mentioning that you made phone calls for your state representative will.) If you plan to vote in the next election, say so. (Senators get re-elected every six years so you want to emphasize that you have a long memory. Say something like, “I could accept some of our policy differences, but if you won’t support an inquiry into an insurrection against the United States, I cannot support you as our senator, and I will remember your actions now when you’re up for re-election.”)
