Trans men and mascs who are assaulted experience the double whammy of growing up internalizing society’s victim-blaming rhetoric around “women” doing something to deserve that assault/not being believed, and then more “progressive” (but still reductive) members of society’s rhetoric that men/non-women can’t be assaulted at all. Which ultimately leads to many not speaking out from fear and shame, while experiencing statistically the highest likelihood of SA out of any gender demographic. Even here on tumblr, I’ve seen people categorically dismissing any claims of assault on trans men and mascs depending on the demographic of the attacker, some even saying they deserve it for “choosing to be a man” or that whatever they experienced isn’t bad enough to risk “ruining the reputation” of their assaulter and they should just get over it. Which is so disturbing and sad, and just abets further abuse. It’s a toxic combo of misogyny (you will always be a victim and deserve it) and anti-masculinity (your victimhood will never matter) and I hope one day we can abolish that way of thinking.

i think getting an undergrad degree should come with a free "second try" voucher, where if you want to go get a second different degree from any school because you picked the wrong thing as a 17 year old, its totally free to try again

I personally owe the cafe employees my dishes put away and my friends a listening ear and small scared insects a cup and a gentle trip outside. Hyperindividualism is a rancid infection borne of capitalism and willfully misinterpreted therapyspeak and I will defy it by continuing to be kind regardless of whether or not it benefits me personally

personally I don't think if you're a kid you should be using your real name on the internet. very easy for people to find out too much about you. instead you should spend years using a different made-up name that becomes part of your persona to an arguably even greater degree than your actual name and then when you grow up and find out you're trans you have a ready-made name to switch to even if it's probably like Leaf or something
