Hello! My name is Maüxe (mo). I’ve been a Body Piercer in the San Francisco Bay Area for over 15 yrs.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work for some really amazing tattoo shops and build up young shops to the point of success over the years but I’ve never been able to establish my own.
I’ve reached a point in my career that NOW is the time. I want to build a company up for myself and the community I wish to serve. I’m calling my company Body Positive Ink. The goal is to make a safe, skilled, inviting, relaxed, and nurturing environment for all.
I have a crew of amazingly talented female tattoo and henna artists ready to work with me.
In my experience as a woman of color in this male dominated industry, it’s really important to feel safe and comfortable in an environment when feeling nervous, anxious, or vulnerable.
Over the years anyone who has ever come in contact with me at my place of work has come away with a beautiful piercing, a set of understanding ears, non judgmental listening skills and solid advice, and an ally.
I do my job to the very best of my abilities, and I treat everyone with love and kindness. My goal is to create a facility for body art that follows this model.
Body art doesn’t have to come with bad attitudes, questionable morals, or hurt feelings.
I have a beautiful vision of the body art spa environment I wish to create, but am unable to fund such a project. I grew up poor, worked hard making money for all of my previous narcisisstic bosses (use you, abuse you, toss you aside), and it’s impossible to build a unique business on the commission wages earned by piercing.
This is where I need your help, empathy, and generosity.
I know everyone is struggling right now, everyone needs help, me included…
This is my dream, has been my dream since I fell in love with body modification.
I am really quite clever when it comes to advertising, marketing, and running a body arts studio. I just need the money to get a studio and some equipment. The point is to create a high end body arts studio that is A.P.P. approved (Association of Professional Piercers). That is the dream.
A nurturing environment with various spa type services available along with tattooing, piercing, henna, and other body modification services founded by women and run by women. Come in feeling good, leave feeling better.
