more about the bartag au!!

Karina, (the little girl) draws on Ivan's poster. that is why the au is called "NO MoRe Loneliness and Isolation!" besides it being really cute. it also symbolizes how Ivan's happiest ending changed from being isolated alone away from the world to one with this new found family. he wants to live now, he wants to feel, he wants to protect, and he wants to be there... for them. 😭😭😭

As much as it was nice for things to “go to normal” in a fresh house with no monsters outside, and no burning sun Ivan was restless. He didn’t want to admit it, but being without Yesenin was tearing him apart. His mood was so affected that even the kids could tell something was up with him.

A week after moving in someone knocks on the door

It’s Yesenin

With a case of beers

“Thought I’d visit and see how you were doing” he said with a welcoming tone.

Ivan could literally kiss Yesenin in this moment. But no, he was still too scared to. So, instead he invites him in, and Yesenin stayed all the way late into the night. When the kids fell asleep, Ivan and Yesenin sat on the porch late at night drinking beer. At this moment is where Ivan realizes he LOVES Yesenin, because with Yesenin in his life he finally gets the “normal” he was craving. He finally feels satisfied, like he can truly relax and be safe.

Just around 1:00am Yesenin leaves to go home and Ivan waves him off. This starts a pattern of Yesenin visiting, at first, it’s only 3 times a week. Then 4, then 5-6 times a week. It’s Almost like he lives there. He interacts with the kids, laughs with Ivan, and becomes part of their family. And it’s just a great period of time.

Karina at this point in time calls Yesenin “Uncle Yesya” and Ivan by, well… Ivan, or step dad Ivan. Maybe every once and a while she will slip up and call him dad. But Ivan tries not to bring attention to it because he knows that is a sore spot for her.

At this point Nadia fully sees Ivan as her dad. Sometimes she will slip up and call him dad every once and a while and act all embarrassed about it. But there is this silent acknowledgement between the two that Ivan is a good father figure. Better than her dad, and better than his own.

But, these two gay love-struck men are not as good at hiding the fact that they are in love with each other as they think. Nadia manages to clock both of them by seeing how much happier they are together; how they lovingly gaze at the other when the others’ back is turned.

So Nadia goes to Karina and says, “how would you like to have two dads?”

“What do you mean?” Karina responds

“Ivan is totally in love with Yesenin but is too scared to admit it”

“Does that mean Uncle Yesya will be here more?”

“Definitely, if we can get them to confess…”

“How do we do that?”

“we pull no punches”

The kids then spend most of their free time scheming different Hijinx and shenanigans to put both Yesenin and Ivan in the perfect environment to confess. They set up dinner dates with mysterious invites. Drag them to the park by the lake at sunset so Karina and Nadia can “play on the swings” but really just trying to get Yesenin and Ivan onto the dock to watch the sunset.

Eventually one of their plans works and Ivan and Yesenin share a kiss. yay

After a few days Ivan goes up to the kids and tries to ask them if they would like Yesenin in the house more often. As he is trying to test the waters to see if they would be ok with him being in a relationship with Yesenin.

The kids are excited and overjoyed and Nadia says “so did you guys kiss yet?”

And Ivan is like WHAT? How did you know???

The kids cheerfully confess about their schemes, and Ivan is like ok cool. I’ll tell him he can move in.

And then they are a happy family :D YAYyy

I am spending a lot of time writing a visitag bartag story and realized that if I try to do the same with this au it would never see the light of day until gta6 is out. so I decided to info dump about it instead and also possibly make small comics and funny videos about it!

I plan on finishing the overview with a part two post and then making some other posts about individual characters, themes, specific events, small comics, funny videos and more!

I would love to answer questions! or interact in any way in general about this au/story or just bar guy x protag! so please feel more than free to comment!

Overall premise

Ivan, Yesenin, Nadia, Karina and a bunch of other characters all survive the cataclysm. Over the course of the cataclysm Yesenin and Ivan catch feelings for each other. Yesenin keeps his love for Ivan hidden due to his fear of ruining his relationship with Ivan. And Ivan is in heavy denial of his feelings until a few weeks after the cataclysm. which was 2 months instead of 14 Ish days above ground and 1 month in the cellar.

In the weeks following the cataclysm people start to move out as they find housing. And Ivan (after some character development) moves into a new house so he is not reminded every day of his past traumas.

When he moves out is also when he “officially” adopts the kids. By giving them the option to come with him. Witch they do

Karina views Ivain as a step dad, someone who could never replace her real dad. But she still sees him in a father-like manner. While Nadia views him as a father figure, worlds better than the dad she had, but will never admit it out loud.

As for Yesenin. He did not confess before Ivan left. And Ivan did not either. They each found their own places to live under the assumption that that’s what was normal at this point, for friends. Too scared to confess, but both silently regretting not reaching out.
