making progress
LOTS of progress.
Van is back from the mech, it has only thrown a code 2 times since then, (CEL) and both have cleared within 2 start cycles on their own. I suspect they are both "Engine Misfire". that is a bad code as it means fresh diesel down the pipes of the exhaust system unburned, but it goes away meaning no big deal.
We have gotten both back row seats installed, the major external install job for the project. Suzy and I put in lots of insulation, we have sourced almost all the parts, so it is almost all assembly. Â keeping at it.
Biggest pleasant surprise is that with both rows of back seats (Seats 8 now!) you can still fit 5 bikes standing up easily in the back row. Â great for family time

and the shop is working on the van again. more waiting.

Shipping to and from 3 day means a week and a half before we get the computer back. quiet time until then. sitting on my hands

Well, for starters, the shop gave me a rundown:
the battery is cheapo and not very good. so new battery $250.
then the bad news, getting a code saying ecu (engine computer) has died, and needs to be replaced. no telling, could be a thousand bucks for that. He wants to start with the battery and re-run the codes.
Also, the AC computer, the Transmission computer, and 2 other computers are throwing codes too. This could just be the ECU issue. He mentioned Mass Air Flow (MAF) intake air temp, water in fuel, and several others, as well as codes for other sub-systems. it is starting to look like we have a horked system. the ECU, they can go out, though, so let's see.
