The revelation that House Rydrion’s Matron Mother had lived a pirate’s life to top off her numerous exploits elicited a somewhat baffled laugh from him. “It sounds as if you lot live a rather tumultuous life. I myself do prefer quiet and orderly… that is, if I do not accidentally end up trapping myself in foreign worlds,” he added meekly.

Algrim sped up his steps a little, his shoulder briefly brushing against Kendalia’s as he seemed to practically hang on her lips, soaking up every morsel of information she cared to share. “Would it be overly rash of me to assume,” he chimed in, “that all of these scattered factions do not exactly live in peaceful coexistance? Naturally, I can only speak from my own experience, but seeing how a mere two races are unable to exist beside each other in relative peace, at least not for extended periods – I feel I must mention that my countrymen are a very belligerent people – I imagine that getting nine different kinds of elves to live in perfect harmony must be next to impossible if they are anything like my own people.”

The mention of the Aquariel and Avariel had Algrim’s brows edging upwards in puzzled bewilderment. “This is… most unusual.” He gave a baffled little laugh. Really, all he had wanted to do was take the fastest route to Muspelheim to assist his liege, and now he was stuck in a world where elves were populating the sea like fish and soaring through the air like eagles – and these were but the tip of the iceberg. While he tried his hardest not to despair in light of the overwhelming strangeness that kept on piling up around him the more he learned about Faerun, he found it increasingly difficult to keep the growing sense of apprehension at bay that threatened to send him spiralling into a panic.

Unable to apply his extensive knowledge of the Nine Realms to the world surrounding him, Algrim felt woefully helpless, stranded on a rock of confusion in a sea of demonic elves, undead bloodsuckers, and Illithid - whatever these were. “Truth be told, all of this seems very strange to me. I… I feel rather at a loss…”

“Though, not as much as the fact your mother threatened to pummel any elf back then who attempted to harm Derik, Kinder, Turil and Jared.” Kendalia said with a smile, “At least then they’d have a slightly better chance of surviving, unlike anyone she uses that greatsword she has on.”

Angstmonkey: Person/character that is prone to whiny angst that they can’t seem to move on from to the point it turns them into a) an extremist out for revenge, b) emo as hell, c) stubborn emo that’s clueless about people trying to help them move on already, or d) Cloud Strife/Parody of Cloud Strife.

To handle an angstmonkey, it varies with just smacking them, forcing them to face the issue head on, or in the event the angstmonkey has reached “Black Hole of Self Loathing” status, to just run away before it pulls you in.
