I'm insane, right?

         Not that Robert was a very mentally strong person in the first place, at least not after limb after limb had been broken as punishment for not being able to stop himself from crying, bawling his eyes out, when having found out his entire family had been murdered━ Couldn’t blame him, really. What else did he have to live for other than this? That past self; the one that was actually human and capable of more rational though; had been burried for what he felt already was very long ago, pretty much forgotten about it, and in that broken and completely vulnerable state molded and made to be the pup that he was today.

         Maybe not a perfectly obedient mutt, it seemeed. As the loud sighing reached his ears, Robert remembered━ He had to give the toy back! What was he thinking? Couldn’t help but get lost in the new sensation of it in his teeth and gums for too long, now Master was angry.  Without any hesitation, with it still in his mouth, he had stood up and with a bit of shame in his eyes and movements crawled back, gently place the toy on Kosuke’s lap with a little bow of his head following, Robert feeling sad that he had (unwantingly) disobeyed Master. It just felt that nice to have it in his mouth.

Oh, Robert Red had died long ago, along with the rest of his family, and it was just as Kosuke had wanted it -- all that remained was Robert the Pup, this pathetic man before him with no memory, no speech, no thought.  Trained and obedient, just as Kosuke needed him to be.

         Master! Master was back home and he smelled funny! But more importantly he was back home!! Finally he wouldn’t be alone and they could play together and cuddle and eat together. Robert was so excited seeing him, it felt like an eternity had passed since they last saw each other (just a couple of hours since the morning when Kosuke had to leave) and he had missed him a bunch; even as he was walking inside the puppy that was Robert kept running around him, panting in excitement and wiggling all over, a tail behind him wagging with all his eager squirming.

         “…!!” As soon as he was reaching into the bag Robert could already tell it was, effectively, a new toy for him. Hearing it squeak just made him that much more thrilled to try it out, bolting out in the direction Kosuke had thrown it, he slidded across the marble floor, way past where the toy actually was only to pounce at it with glee, slipping over the floor once more but with the toy in his mouth this time. 

         And as one would expect he got distracted, chewing it repeatedly and making it squeak and squeal, drool starting to fall over it in the process.

When Kosuke had decided that he wanted a puppy, it was for this exact reason why -- the pure enjoyment and entertainment that came with watching a grown-ass man slipping and sliding across the floor to get their teeth sunk into a hunk of fabric.  Who would’ve thought Robert would break so easily?  Kosuke would have been satisfied with just an act -- a man so scared of breaking the rules that they did all this to keep Master appeased, but hey -- this was so much better.  So much cleaner, so much easier -- to leave Robert all day and come home to a perfectly happy and energetic pup.

         Once again he had been left alone for the day, with nothing to really entertain himself with more than the obsession he currently had on a certain squeaky toy but, really. After hours of chewing and throwing it around and chasing after it even Robert could get tired of it! So what else to do but what for anyone to come home, although, he was, of course, specially waiting for Master. Would he get a special treat? Did he buy him something new? Maybe another friend?

         However, he couldn’t ponder on that anymore━ The sound  of keys and the rustling of a bag got his attention, got him excited enough to practically bolt for the door━ Master! He was back home! Oh, how he had missed him! The way he pawed at his legs and practically jumped all over and around him made that fact very clear.

There he was!  His precious puppy!  What an exciting thing to come home to each day -- Kosuke grinned as he looked down at the pup helplessly pawing and scratching at his legs, giggled softly as he bent down to pat his head in return.  There he sat for several seconds, patting the cute little mutt and reveling in his own excitement.

If there was one place a child didn’t belong, it was exactly where Kira Kosuke was -- wrapped in the midst of controversy and trial based upon his father’s abuse.  He won’t forget the night he was pulled out of bed, shoved from adult to adult, bombarded with questions about what happened behind closed doors, what happened when his father came home from work, what happened to cause those bruises and scars on his skin.  Months of lawyers and policemen and judges were enough to exhaust anyone -- but what gave him the energy to continue was the absence of his dad. The few times he had seen Yoshihisa, the elder would be handcuffed and restrained, letting Kosuke feel as if he had all the power in the world.  Sneers and laughs were thrown in his dad’s direction, and a smile lit his face when he heard the result -- his father would be thrown in jail a long time, much longer than Kosuke need worry about him.  And once it was all over -- it was over. Where would he go from here?  He was bored.  He wanted his games, wanted to play Btooom, wanted sweets, wanted his bed.  Shouldn’t he be allowed back?  His father had worked long hours in the past -- Kosuke knew what it was like to take care of himself, so why couldn’t he go back alone?  Almost thirteen was, in his mind, adult enough to go without a guardian.  So how did he arrive here?  Pacing back and forth while he waited for some old mug to show up and take him away, force him back into school, force him to do housework and sleep and stay away from his games. . .

         What a strange guy, yet he found himself getting curious about him the more and more he looked at him— He was the first wolf he ever encountered ever since making it to this city, too, so that just rose his curiosity tenfold, he wanted to ask so many things, know many more. But he didn’t know where to start; good thing he didn’t necessarily have to.

      “I would like to know your name.” He gave a head tilt of his own. “I cannot give you my name, however. I have forgotten what it was.”
