“About as good as any day. You?”

This time Griffin’s laugh had a nervous edge. “Why would I ever do something as stupid as.. repeatedly get arrested because I was in love with you. That’s preposterous.”

“I am the progenitor of an ancient and powerful species – That was my crime,” she explained casually.  “As for the Parkers, well, they are quite clever with their prisons, aren’t they?” The demon gave Brady a knowing look. “I assume you’re familiar with their design?”

“So, I should love you both?  A lot?” His wild grin slowly grew. “Very convenient.”

Griffin laughed warmly at Brady’s reply. “I knew that. Some people commit crimes as foreplay Brady, and we’re valid.”

“It hasn’t,” Griffin agreed. She grinned widely at Brady’s continued affection, and in response Griffin placed a quick kiss on her girlfriend’s lips. “You’re right, there’s still time. I could rob a bank.”

“Fairness is a pillar in this household. You best learn that, boy.” He gave his son’s head a scratch, pulling him close and getting ready for the movie.

“I recognize capable hands when I see them,” she began curtly. “Whereas others have failed, I know you have what it takes to free me from this unjust prison.”

“I mean.. do we have any stories that don’t directly involve Levi that are safe to tell children?” that was a genuine question now. “You’re sweet to me. My sweet stronk cop gf.”

“Are you saying all of our arrest and bail-out stories are off the table? ‘Cause that’s like a quarter of them.” She leaned against Brady with a smirk. “Still not as sweet as you though.”

“I think it was while they were still on, actually.”

“No problem. Levi will help me out, right?” he winked at his son, who knew his cue to be to shake his head dramatically from left to right. Kai in turn let out an equally dramatic sigh, leaning into his propped up hand. “Betrayed again.”

“By now you’ve noticed this isn’t a normal dream. I am Dantalian, and I’ve been sealed under this city by people who thought they were doing humanity a favor. I’m a demon, Brady, a fallen angel of Hell. And I’ve been asleep for far too long.”
