Land of mountains and high passes - Yep that is Ladakh for you

Yes Ladakh is usually visited during June- Oct and rest of period isn't closed yep but not completely inaccessible  ( we did that couple of years before 2015 ) 

Rest of years the local survive when both the entry to the Ladakh valley is closed by Iced shower glaciers and isolates itself as a land of misty icy island amidst Himalayan Mountains and passes 

The local survives stocking veggies and other necessaries for the next 6 month as the cold mountain desert goes through extreme weather condition Maximum of day temperature is -15 degrees and nights are colder like -30 during winters

With the past experience, we still vouched to visit during the winter trip

as there is no roadway to be leh 'id' fly from Delhi

One should be aware the first day and night is challenging as suddenly getting yourself to over 11,000 feet above sea level will get one to multiple hallucinations if not headache and nausea

Spending the first day is a challenge here are some tips

It's a reserve day  - Keep moving do simple shopping for the day ahead try local cuisine take a walk uphill remember to breathe don't run out of fluids even if you ain't thirsty   

Diamox tablet may be a lifesaver for most, however, i prefer loads of garlic and soup and adequate sleep the day with mild walk will keep oneself move on from the sea level UP.

Early morning flight take a window seat and don't miss to gaze around an amazing snow covered Himalayan passes 

Tipping down as cold as -15 was a warm welcome, could see a fair crowd some are locals traveling del- leh Home and few more for chadar trek aspirants - Chadar is a cold frozen lake trek which keeps our nerve intact and goes by the proverb - Life should move on no matter how cold the life treats 

coming back to our itinerary we wanted to see the nooks and hooks of Ladakh  as possible & immersed to the beauty of Ladakh valley during winter 

There are only a few accommodations available for visitors as the city would be completely frozen

we got out bags settled in a hostel just below the Japanese installed Shanti stupa - Bed and breakfast 

Ladakhi's got their own innovation to a sustainable toilet option which basically is the combination of Indian style mold with dump pit beneath Flush free 

Yes we had our challenges but life is fullest when we try to move further and farther from our Comfy zone 

Checked in to the hostel after a short refresh we head to DC office where one could get the permit for inner line travel around Ladakh valley 

finished with Late afternoon carting winter gears for the next 10 days

 Fleece, shawls, rugger pants etc... after trying out local cuisine                lamb chow mein

we called it a day

To survive Ladakh one need

Fleece

A good pair of woolen sock

Thermal inner

Fleece 

Woolen knitted cap

- 20-degree resistant jacket 

Hand clove inner and a heavier one preferred 

Always sleep inside Quilt /woolen wrap and a sleeping bag preferred to sustain

But never hesitate to take a look the widespread galaxy view during the long night! it's a mesmerizing view.

It's not quite often a geographical area in any piece of earth is more enduring to Royalhood life & GOD himself!

Maheshwar as the name suggests Shiva lives here an ancient city located on north bank of river 'Narmada '

Holkar Queen princess is the real ‘Raja matha ‘ her life exhibits rare multi skillset of administration excellence & encouraging and enduring restoration of art and cultural tradition of the Malwa kingdom 

For me, she is truly an Enlightened 'soul'

From skipping her life of 'Sathi' tradition after she losing her husband to be an invincible leader the region ever seen 

she enjoyed spending time and her wealth to refurnish archaeological important temples of Shiva 

Of course, she is a 'Shiva Bakth' That says it all

Charitable trust still owes high and runs schools and continues re-engineering Maheswar art form of  handloom weaving and more 

silky and cotton threads blending to form a saree is a delight to watch it takes about three days to weave a saree 

The Narmada is beautiful as an ‘Apsara’ the need for restoring river strings so hard and hope for perennial wealth of the state is still enriched

Life is a travel not necessarily a lone travel always we will have the company of old friends and new strangers and of course didn't imagine that we would be travel buddies forever! 

2014 story yet feels so fresh!

An old Dear college buddy rang some after a long gap in time ! from the distant land! ( Raj) I was so glad to have a nice little conversation! we went to serious business he had Rajasthan trip in mind to make during Pushkar mela and he is forming a formidable team 

What more should I ask for to travel a dream land with best buddy company ( Sandy)and I hooked up with my best pal from work and the most accommodative travel buddy ( Vamsi ) from my side , by the time my friend had already formed a team himself of his taste of work ( photo walkers  yet unique in their way ( Shankar,Ramesh,Karthi)

Trip started when we all met @ Bangalore airport to Jaipur 

Jaipur Nights are always special, glimsed Hawa mahal for a breath taking Night view @ Jalmahal - Water Palace 

After a humptous dinner reached railway station to head to jaisalmer Sand City

Rajasthan cities are beautifully depicted with synonymous prefixes 

Pink city - Jaipur Blue city - Jodhpur  Jaisalmer - Golden city and on...

Reaching Jaisalmer is enjoyable train ride we were bit late in arriving yet the Sun god was reflecting beautiful exteriors we could get the grace even from the coach as well ( Humid day oh boy !)

we took a cab to Somewhere middle of desert Khuri village yet never far from Hospitality

After a quick refresh we took a long stroll to endless Sand dunes 

I should mention the visits of some of the remote villages of Rajasthan Just kissing borders of pakistan Lovely kids around and wonder ful people 

Being raised In  Tamilnadu yet have friends from Rajasthan I have seen and heard tradition of Rich Rajastahan merchant donates free drinking water one could see it around anywhere near Jain settlements , I got to know the real humilty of tradition 

Water is a commoditity its a shame that we made such beautiful land with lack of water yet thanks to community man Like “ water man of India ‘ Rajendra Singh ‘“

Yet it was so heart breaking to see young and old women walking miles for few Gallons of water for their daily need - It isn't a walk to remember for them yet they make it worth whiling with their lovely person 

Lovely kids and beautiful women of Rajasthan can be spotted 

Sun is dismounting itself amongst the endless san dune mountain hillocks and yet emitting ‘Golden rays of hope ‘ - Rightly named isn’t Golden city Jaisalmer

we met a wanderer from my neighboring Chera Nadu  - Stay @ Desert is such a dream to retrofit

Should I mention we counted Stars to fall asleep Lovely night

Yes, the walls of the houses are painted with Blue and serene to watch from the fort cannon towers! but why those days during epidemic hits the city vaccinated family houses are marked blue and it become a legacy

we stayed two nights and three Full time roaming days with loads of street food Shopping and Of course sweets 

What about the cattle fair?

* Largest cattle fair

This is the Santha! cattle fair in greater Rajasthan where any one who rears and wants cattle ranging from camels to horses Goats to Bulls will come and handpick the site of it and culture OMG!  the fair happens just like a wedding day celebration

A healthy camel is sold ranging from 35000 to 5 lakhs 

Horse can Go up to 20 Million 

* Shopping with some hand pick shopping and with loads of memories we got to get back to where we belong

Have you ever wondered what will a seeker wishes to Visit the Great Kedar during winter ( where the roads and temples are closed due to excess snowfall) this of course got in me but we got a response immediately when we came across a name board says Ukhimath when we reached Gupta Kashi after we downward hiked to sonaprayag

Loads of Mystic mythology stories evolve from here, Legends emphasizes that here is where the offboarded Pancha Pandavas took blessing of Kasi Shiva in a very secretive and mystic form  ( the vibe here reminds me of Varanasi ) as well no doubt Shiva was here 

Most importantly my Guru says Agasthya my forefather sage have consecrated the linga ( ellipsoid form of Shiva ) himself and the rarest sight of water bodies of Ganges and Yamuna flows through two different outlet 

Imbibing Bhakti kriya we took bath and had to bless of Lord Shiva & Kaal Bairava himself @ Gupta Kashi 

accommodations are available near to the temple itself and a decent tested eatery of Chauhan's  is available in the main town

we came across nearby temple attraction sign board implanted by UK Tourism where we came across the place called OMkareshvarar

when we enquired it's the place where panch -kedar darshan can be attained for nonhikers 

Ukhimath is connected to chopta as well en route to Tung Nath 

Idols and scriptures and practices revive South Indian sadhanas here

Dharshan of all panch -kedar linga is possible for the seeker One who aspires to hike and see the Lord himself also for the winter time seekers 

we Got our sacks packed downhill to Rishikesh one needs to cross the town Rudraprayag nearby where is my Guru's Guru Mutt is located

After Kedarnath Dharshan we entered Gupta Kashi and took 4 wheel ride to the base camp 'Chopta'  checked in and dropped our luggage in a 6-bed accommodation and started a brisk 4-mile hike by the time we started the rain god started pouring and time to pull out the rain cover jacket 

Truly walk to remember - The very hillock is referred as Mini Switzerland by the locals I defer Let the Swiss be called Western Tungnath 

Lush green forests entering to high and grasslands, I have been to multiple places of the Great Himalayan range most of them are Snow capped cold mountain deserts and this place on earth isn't such with rich greens often reminded me the western ghats its tough for me to not to compare western ghat no matter where ever I am :) 

Slow enjoyable walk uphill dazzled by the beauty of the mountain peaks and the cloud-kissing mountain birds and cattle just got us more company 

This trek isn't a challenging trek as Kedar, however, its retreat walkway UP the hill we stopped by for a cup of tea at the halfway mark we could see brisk Mules carrying passengers Up hill and down hike

By the time we reached it was Sandhya time ( evening towards sunset)

Shiva, I don't care where you from, what you do; As long as you be with me   Boundless of time still tickles away my time on earth yet the moments spend with him is treasure and leave it to his prodigy 

The place is reverberating with the essence of Nothingness yet has everything a seeker needs!

A mile away towards heaven is a place called 'Chandrasila' Spiritual Seekers destination ideally on a Full moon day

It is believed the moon during Fullmoon day appears so close to the earth and that supports meditativeness hence the peak attracts umpteen of sadhus during Fullmoon day, we been on 6th day after No moon ( Sasthi Thithi ) so the Moon forms a Pirai as its seen on the head of Shiva himself 

After quiet time @ the peak, we had to return back before dawn, Yet the memory is so tranquil will never fade

Walk, crawl hike - no matter what ? the feeling of ' In the lap of the Master ' is inevitable!

'Himalayas & Ganges' are my Great Great Grandfather~mother alike. Life can take us anywhere but if it takes to the Himalayas nothing like it but before that board flight to Delhi 😊

The great Bharat Capitol is known for its perseverance and Phoenix type attitude  the city being massacred by many Invaders yet holds the cultural endurance and yet cheapest and busiest metro amongst the rest of 4, Not that easy to commute across the city coordinates Thanks to Delhi Metro rail system -Finding platform across colors is still challenging for me, however, I could sigh a relief boarding Jansatapthi to the Rishi 's land !

Oven ride to lower plain Himalayas is eternal after a dip in 'har ki Pauri 'by night  Here is where the Amruth pot spilled a drop and the ideal place to collect Ganges water for purity 

 'Raw omnipresent 'Ro treated dip in the Ganges is a clean act 

Haridwar always welcomes me as an old school always nostalgic Of course, I feel similar feel in few other places ( Banaras, Nashik... Overnight Nap is really essential, before a bit of a start to Sonaprayag the base camp where are the crawl and hums starts 8-hour long Hartal Hunger-strike bus ride can't be explained over mere expressions 

the Himalayas is an unusual mountain range, for a hiker it might amuse by its mightiness and diversified flora and fauna, but for me even a small hillock of Himalayas articulates larger than life mightiness he is like my great -great father embraces me but yes he is mystic and has answers for all the questions ever arose and the ones which are yet too Cloud kissing ranges passing the Ganges ...flowing from the peaks with flow and shine

 Some time blueish, rest of the time mesmerizes the thought and life just by the mere smell and sight of her ...

Though there are multiple prayags enroute Devprayag and rudra- prayag are my favorite s The former is where Ganges takes it course with mix of Mandakini and blue lagoon river stream Latter is where Agasthya Muni stayed for few hundred years and held his spiritual practise ( Sadhana) and there still reverberates an ashram 

Gmou is the motor association operating limited timing service from haridwar to sonprayag and else where too these Hartal  bus service travels across and over Himalayas without even a chai break yet we could have a bite of icebars while we had to stand long traffic congestion yet that memory travels high amongst the mountains It was only late in the night we could reach Sonpryag the base camp to kedarnath 

Shower fed rainfall with lush high mountains lodged us the very night Early start stand the queue to authorize a pass to kedarnath ( one should need a valid original id address proof )aadhar is preferable Walk to the bridge taxi takes us to the the fag end of motorable road near gaurikund Three way to reach the kedarnath temple a ) chopper service available from multiple cities around Uttarakhand like ( dehradun,gaurikund,guptkasi,uttarkasi ) operates at a fair price b) Take a mule ride or a hand life palak service (dolly) preferred for elderly and children C) Take a walk  usually takes about 8 hours or even more

Where do I start! 

Let me start from Pandavas! After committing war crime with the supervision of Shri Krishna, to overcome the guilt the five brothers chose to Seek Maheshvara darshan to peel of the karma!

Shiva disguised and gave a tough time to provide a sight to the Pandava kings Mythology believes that they entered the plains of lower Himalayas reached place called Haridwar - Gateway to Shiva and then climbed Rishikesh and wandered around crossing ganges on the banks of its tribunal mandageni river and finally Beem is able to locate shiva @ a strategic important place called Gupta Kashi - its referred as Mystic Kasi where Shiva is an available to any seeker additional information is the linga is consecrated by Agasthya muni - South sage :) 

Let me come back to him on return trip, then they climb greater Himalayas and 'beema' smashed disguised shiva and that fell across different parts of now uttarkhand

I was blessed to be grace in Kedarnath and Tungnath of the panch kedars 

The way upwards to Kedarnath is truly heaven in disguise there are many junction hops the trek could be termed as Medium trek till 7 km and then it takes a bit test for virgility 

First 3 kilo meters embraces rudra falls , Bairava temple and beembali and the next 3 km walk up hill will get the first sigh of snow and also the split takes to Serious uphill hike from Rambara the old trek place after the 2013 wash away remains could be witnessed 

another equidistance walks uphill the roads turns total uphill and zigzag upwards and yet classy on the way up  Jai Bolo Kedar Baba ...

I firmly believe only the calling can get us there no matter what ! devotion is the key to eternal opening 

As Buddha often refers than the actual attainment of enlightenment the path toward to it is more reverberating so as this travel

Cloud kissing mountains, Snow capped mountains Rudra’s presence and more than all the humility of being felt so small Infront of the Himalayas yet pampered by the sight of the free flowing Motherhood!

Arrival and Arti 

we just arrived before Aarti with its magnificence energy awakening mantras night well spent 

with great hospitality by the Punjabi brother sangh 

well pampered quilt and yet sprout rich roti and veggies is just perfect for retiring the night wondering the ambiance of the eternal place

Mornings are usually as early as 430 am bright and light and temple starts reverberating time to take a daylight look @ Kedar darshan 

One should see for themselves a Simple monolithic rock fell flushed by the mighty flood split the water streams yes the flood didn't reach the temple one can call it as 'coincidence or maybe fate there is only a fine line to it '

Triangular irregularly spawned  ellipsoid linga is what the whole cosmos is longing for is just in front of me 

I still could feel the thoughtlessness around the campus!

Big salute to Adhi Sankaracharya’s revamp of Spiritual process here  and he stays here omniprescent and i firmly belive he had left his soul around here and lives in samadhi 

Kanti saravor not far away from the temple is where the first KT happened between Shiva and the seven Sages 

Encountering yogi! - conversation with a nomad is nothing like less than unfolding karma knots yes I loosened few knots and i shall leave it to myself ! as I might sound hallucinatory :)

Siddhar's Samadhi around Bangalore 

If visiting temple is referred as peace, then what would I say just being in the perimeter of Siddhar's Living place 

Who is Siddhar? An exclusive degree is given to any person who had attained the ultimatum of life which enables him to access the universal hotspot with no password restrictions and unlimited upload download

There are 18 critically acclaimed siddhars who had taken direct KT ( knowledge transfer from Shiva ) and there are 108 who had been Mastered by shiva's disciples   

What is Samadhi! When such a person decides to leave his material remains which is nothing but the body made of five elements ( fire,water,air,land,Space) and yet his energy reverberates, it isn't a resting place 

I would consider visiting such places are only achieved by grace and google maps

One should visit Thattaya cave where he had witnessed meditativeness

ii)Halasuru Mounanda Swamy ( Ulsoor metro )

Life has become  too busy to realize life itself - I ain't cynical here

Mounanda Swamy resides near Ulsoor metro station small temple is built around the consecrated space ,Mounanada guru Silence+endlesshappiness is his name acronym resides and graces with his better half - Disciple of Vallalar ( A great mystic yogi)

His famous posture being slope heading towards right as if lending his ears to something eternal - He was alway in silence yet his vibe can be even heard now and his disciple Sithanada is also around on the same campus

Darjeeling as the name sounds Darling of all Hills, I have fallen in love with the Lesser Himalayas this winter be its breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga or the Happy Valley Tea Garden

Day 2- Mattu Pongal The day to respect the Man's Best companion in agriculture none other than my Bull! He is seen as a part of the family he is decorated and the special serving of pristinely cooked food is only presented for him and rejoiced with a fun filled sport called Jallikattu Where the grown men will be challenged to embrace other family bull from the same village and the smart bully will try to skim them away

Journey to the Center of the ‘Cleanest Village of Asia’

It all starts when you Land at Guwahati  - Gateway to the real East of India .  of course North East Considered to be Aesthetic and brings harmony according to Fengshui Energy 

Shillong the capital of Meghalaya is 3 - 4 hour Car Drive away from Guwahati Airport Oh Boy! People here are with extreme knowledge of carrying themselves 

Mawllylong is a pleasant 5 hours drive from Shillong We had a light meal for a comfy travel ahead 

We stopped for mid-day tea near Elephant falls  that's a  supersonic waterfall Mid-day sun penetrating through the deep tree structure makes it feel cozy - Perfect 12noon weather 

Almost forgot to mention - Nature made wonder fall

As we lost Self and the track of time  we decided to skip our lunch and head ahead to reach Mawllylong before the dusk - Sun sets early here average 4.30 PM 

we crossed woods jungle meadows pine forests grassland what not and few amazing stop by villages and towns filled with amazing people - we had to stop by at many places highway check outs and of course clicked some nice clicks 

Blue was turning pink we reached Mawllylong, Simple colony yet very intent beauty of itself gave a look of island amongst landscape 

Truly clean village trash collection bins everywhere, we had to check-in for overnight halt we did compare few options nevertheless the bamboo tree hut impressed us so too much 

Adventurous pathway up to the hut with a view of the Village and a football ground local boys were in action 

we treated ourself too early dinner @ 630 PM and had a long walk across the village and chitchats to sleep 

Sunday, First in the morning is a cup of tea and visited The living Root bridge I have to admit live is alive everywhere we happen to miss them always - A walk to remember 

Young kids enjoying December vacation were all newly appointed  shopkeepers selling veggies & fruits and what not 

A bite of sweet potato rolled over sparsely ground red chilly & Pineapple slices using long bamboo tooth prick was fun filled 

when we reached the Village back Early Lunch was ready 

Simple water filled dal topped on hot rice with cabbage fry  I should say is satisfied meal to fuel us to take us to our Next journey

Century’s history is involved in simplest formation of what we call as Soil .Rocks quartz corals are crushed at highlands and finely powdered over the journey of River eloping with sea 

I feel the urge for awareness of using natural resources to our convenience 

This Innocent Young lad of Jaintia hills  like  few hundreds, Transports Sand from the banks of Dawki River to the uphill for his daily bread

Dawki is a hamlet near Indo-Bangladesh border and Glassy see through Umngot river flows boundless ( the venue of the very famous annual boat race ) is truly a heritage to India

Let the sensible Government of Meghalaya be awaken before it is too late of tons of sand export like what we see across Indian river beds
