From time to time people object to AI-generated imagery because it is “too easy” or because the machine is involved in the process. I find this argument curious. If ease of production were really the problem, photography would have been rejected long ago — after all, pressing a shutter is often technically simpler than painting a canvas.

Yet photography eventually became one of the most respected artistic mediums.

Every new visual technology changes the relationship between artist, tool and image. AI is simply the newest one.

What matters to me is the atmosphere, the characters and the world these images help me explore. The tool is only part of the process.
