* GOOD WITCH / OZ

“You know what? Sounds amazing, I’ll even add my future wife too,” he laughed. His smile fell with hers and he looked down, thinking of Margaery at that moment. “I need to make sure no one disappears again”

                        “  hmmm.... that might be just a tad bit too much,  ”  glinda kids, hand covering her mouth as she laughs softly. her mood lessens from its jolly nature as soon as his did. she tries not to think of it, of anything bad that could have happened to those that are gone. it's due to her consistent act as glinda the good that she refrains from thinking negatively.  “  and how do you plan on doing that ?  ”

“Alright, first born, I’ll make sure to put that in the script I have begging for a job,” he laughed softly. “Wait, there are people disappearing? I haven’t heard of that yet”

                    “  you should add your second born as well... just for luck,  ”  glinda answers, a teasing tone in her voice. her joking manner turns serious immediately at his question,  “  i’m not certain, it’s all so confusifying... but i did hear a few people talk about a loved one here suddenly disappearing. they probably went back to their world again.  ”

He couldn’t remember most of his family, but there was a sister he had. A sister and an uncle and while he couldn’t remember their names he could remember that they treated him with such love and compassion and it was unlike anything he felt from anywhere else back home. Running a hand through his hair, he realized he was getting distracted from job hunting and threw the ad listings across the table and sighed. “How hard is it to get one job?” he asked, to no one in particular, “it’s at the point where I need to offer my soul and first born to just get an interview”

                     “  i don’t know about soul, but a first born might be good,  ”  glinda replies, amusement twinkling in her eyes as she glances at the stranger a table away. she’d been finishing her reading assignment ( yeah, shocking ) about this world’s 11th century architecture when she continually heard him sighing & mumbling, bringing her attention towards him.  “  i’ve never tried applying for a job,  ”  her jobs as spokesperson, ‘good witch’, & ruler of oz, all given to her by the people,  “  but i heard its pretty tough since there are people appearing & disappearing from this town on a daily basis.  ”

      given how charlotte had been left alone, without big daddy or tiana or even naveen, she’d had to take matters into her own hands. the daughter of the richest man in new orleans carried quite a bit cash on her, although this horrid thing called – oh no, was it depreciation ? inflation ? someone had tried to explain it to her, but all that she’d truly gathered was that her limitless flow of money had reached a sudden stop, and she’d be livin’ on the streets if she didn’t act now. 

     her second step, after she’d secured a job at her favorite coffee shop ( where she spent most of the time filing her nails and flirting with the customers ), was to secure a roommate: a flawless blonde she’d met around town. glinda was only a few years older, but certainly much more sophisticated than herself, and charlotte simply adored her. what she didn’t adore, however, was their apartment. entering the living room with a cup of coffee for both of them, charlotte slumped onto the couch. “ honestly, sugar, what we need is a total makeover of this place. i’m thinkin’ the first thing that needs to go are those drab curtains. and i mean g o n e. i swear i saw the most hideous insect on them earlier. we might need to burn them. ” 

                    glinda’s never been known for her study habits, she, or should she say gAlinda, had been far too fond of partying & socializing. it took one short day in emerald city that led to a series of events that made her throne mistress of all of oz to be able to sit down & learn. classes about politics is better than actual politics, lessons in architecture is better than traveling across all oz & seeing different styles of buildings, & essays are far better than the daily paperwork she had to deal with. she never understood how her dear elphie could sit around & study until she finally found herself in a position where studying is infinite times better than what she has to deal with in her life.

                    moving from her stiff position of lying down on the couch, to give charlotte some space, glinda quickly grabs her coffee, takes a sip, & glances around their apartment. it’s not THAT bad. the other half of her dorm back in shiz was far worse. but it’s definitely worse than the places she’s lived in— one being the royal palace of oz.  “  i’ll just box it & give it away. we might as well add the carpets since they have the same theme.  ”  her mind’s racing with different ideas on how to ‘beautify’ this place, one grander than the other, “  we have to agree, before we leave. salmon, rouge, taffy, rose, or bubblegum pink ? i know better than to leave that question at the last minute.  ”

This had been a stupid idea. Sure, Wanda could understand the need to jump into cool water during hot days like this, but why had she thought it would be something for her, as well? After all, she had never been one of those teenagers herself.

“Could you….. please?” Sure, the easiest way would be to use her abilities for this, but that would only drawn more attention on the young woman. Attention she did not want or need. So Wanda was just trying to cover herself while hopelessly fishing for the piece of fabric flaoting around in the pool in front of her.

                    “  sure,  ” glinda slowly makes her way to the fabric, reaching forward to grab it the last few feet, before walking back. she offers the garment & places her self in a spot where the majority of other pool goers wouldn’t be able to see what’s going on behind her. rather than be asked, the ‘good witch’ turns around & starts chatting,  “  is it your first time wearing such an outfit ? make sure to double knot it & have a two finger space for comfort.  ”

This all felt so…. unreal to Wanda. Never before she had been visiting a public swimming pool. That had never exactly been a thing in Sokovia. Not to mention that she could not swim.

“Okay, you know….,” she said to no one in particular, “Think I have changed my mind and just going to lay into the sun for a bit.” The fact that her bikini top was just swimming away was for sure another reason - but nothing that Wanda could ever speak out out. It was all just too embarrassing in this very moment….

                    glinda's dislike of water began during her teenage years. as a young gilikin obsessed with her looks ( like most, if not all, gilikins ), she avoided & was heavily against anything that ruined her hair or clashed with her. it didn't help that a number of boys in shiz university, those hailing from vinkus & munchkinland especially, were far too fond of throwing women into the lake for their own enjoyment. her dislike grew stronger, verging on hatred, during the past year, every glance towards water reminding her of her best friend's 'melting'. still. she can't live in fear or hide from every body of water. she must confront it sooner, or later.... or now.

                    fingers lightly press against the cold liquid, never breaking the surface tension as she walks around the pool. her slow walk around the edge brings her near enough to hear the brunette's words. blue eyes glance curiously before lighting up in amusement, staring until she notes her emotions & behavior, especially the position of her arms. if she was trying to hide her situation, her actions did the opposite of help.  “  should i grab that ?  ”  her thumb points at the cloth floating a few feet away, fair eyebrow raised in question.

                    there was a time, long ago, that glinda could easily forget her problems by shopping her heart out. a day-long stroll in shiz’ fashion district could cure her of whatever worries occupy her mind— from having to deal with an oddly-colored roommate, her rejection as a sorcery major, her low scores in history, to fiyero. now, however, it’s still there, the distraction from her worries, but tamer. a hand brushes through the clothing rack, fingertips feeling each material until she picks one at random. dismissing the style after one quick look, glinda almost puts it back only to stop as she glances across her.  “  you know,  ”  she starts, lifting the dress up,  “  this might look good on you.  ”

A silver cat danced around the Scottish witch, her eyes alight with mirth as it bounded between her legs. It was hard to produce one, when life was so different, but she was thankful for it. Watching it bound up to someone, she stood up abruptly. “Watch out!” Minerva prayed they wouldn’t notice the whispy quality to it. “Shit.”

                           “  what in oz ?  ”  the words spill from her mouth as she stares at the silver cat nearing her heels. galinda probably wouldn’t have noticed anything different with the cat, besides its unusual silver coat, but glinda did. how can she not ? her few months of ruling oz involved Animal rights, which meant being attentive to their species.  “  you’re a special one, aren’t you dear ?  ”  glinda mutters, gathering her dress in a high point in front of her so that she could sit on her own legs without dirtying them & reaching forward to pet the cat.

“I’ve never been human.” Susan replied with a light shrug of her shoulders, “It’s honestly quite human to think just because you look like this doesn’t mean that its exclusive to your species.”

                         “  well i have seen someone who looked differently & was still considered human so excuse my quick conclusion.  ”  it hurts to have her thoughts stray to her elphie, to remember that green skin that made her so unique & bullied but still made her act more human than everyone in oz— including her. glinda hides her wince & continues her line of questioning,  “  what are you then ?  ”
