It’s been 9 years since Life with Derek first aired. 5 years since it ended. 3 since the movie Vacation with Derek was released.

I know the fandom for this show is still passionate. I know that no matter how much time passes, we will still rally behind it and express our love for it.

Well I’m calling on all of those who love this show… this show about the high strung but caring keener and lackadaisical but compassionate slacker that we have grown to care so much about…

it’s been bugging me that people think Life with Derek ended because Michael Seater (Derek) and Ashley Leggat (Casey) had sex IRL so they had to cancel it.

regardless of the nature of Mike & Ash’s relationship (which remains unknown and honestly is no one’s business but theirs), they wouldn’t “cancel” the show for that reason.

if you think they canceled it because there was too much sexual chemistry between derek and casey, you obviously do not know anything about the show or the writers or creators or the fandom from back then.

I was a part of the fandom and Derek/Casey as a ship was pretty much The Big Ship of the show. Most of those who cared about it enough to be a part of the fandom, shipped Dasey.

also the show, FROM THE START, was riddled with sexual tension between them, so if that was the reason they canceled it, it wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did.

Everyone involved with the show knows about the Dasey shippers, and how numerous they were, and had known about it pretty early on. Though the creator was mainly against it for the most part, I do think Mike & Ash threw some stuff in there for us.

Anyway, the show wasn’t canceled because “they fucked” as many people seem to think.

The reason it was canceled really is that it had just had it’s run. A lot of shows that air on the Disney Channel ended in their fourth year. Though it was technically not even a disney channel show, it was a Family Channel show (which is a Canadian network) and Disney just aired it.

Mike and Ash have never stated that they have at any point dated and anyone saying otherwise is lying or speculating.

Daphne Ballon, the creator has since (hopefully) changed her tune about Dasey as a whole. A few years ago I had sent her a message telling her what Dasey meant to us as a fandom and all that and she responded with this: 

that was on 5/26/2011, so anything could have changed since then but that is the last we heard on the subject of Dasey.

Also, there’s a lot of excitement about it coming back, as a new series called “Life with Derek, Again”

but i just have to warn you all that it’s not FOR SURE going to happen. As with all TV shows, they have to be approved in many many different stages and all that nonsense. So, though I’m super hopeful, I’m trying not to get my hopes up too high, and I just want to let you all know that it’s not a definite thing, like so many people think it is.

By now, I’m sure most of you have heard the tragic news. This weekend, this community lost one of its own. Cory Monteith affected the lives of so many people, many of us included, and he will be greatly missed.

The Glitzers would like to take this opportunity to not only offer a shoulder to cry on, but a chance to channel some of that grief into something better. As some of you may already know, Project Limelight was very important to Cory. Fans all over the world are coming together to support them in his memory. Over the next week, we will be putting up merchandise that will be available for purchase. All designs will include a nod to Project Limelight, as well as our motto of Spread Love. 100% of the profits made will be donated to Project Limelight.
