Where Have I been??
Well Hey There.
So I disappeared off the face of the planet working on a new project (Which is one of the best reasons to disappear).
I was burrowing away in the intertubes making THIS WEBSITE for my new co-creative-thing with partner in crime Courtney Johnson.
So Lonely Hunter is a monthly craft market, but also a blog (and maybe a few other things we will keep up our sleeves for now).
That's all for now. More updates soon!
HOLY MOLY I helped make a book!
Well this is exciting. The very talented knitted Karla Courtney has written a book of fun and simple animals to make for kiddies. As you can see this meant knitting A LOT of critters.
I helped by knitting Mr Owl and Mr Unicorn.
I am so proud and excited to see my stitches in an actual real life book. And a book by the Australian Women's Weekly too!
Thank you for asking me to be involved in such a fun project Karla! (You can keep up with Karla and her cute-as-a-button son Marshall over at The Tiny Times).
Knitted Vases are coming along. I'll have 4 x in time for Lonely Hunter next weekend (the 27th July). They take so long! Anyone want to intern with me doing endless hours of French Knitting?
So I'm Trying to Knit a Pineapple
But it's not as easy as I thought it would be. Not that I thought it would be EASY per se, but I definitely hit an unforseen brain wall.
This was my first attempt. I soon realise it looks like a parsnip.
Not exactly the tropical triumph I was hoping for. So the parsnip becomes Bev's new cat toy and she loves it, and for a short time I'm not feeling so bad, because Bev thinks it's AMAZING.
So I tried again with moss stitch and fatter leaves. Much better. I am on the road to succulent success.
And so this is where we end up.
I have decided this is prototype two, and I will try one last time with just 4 x fatter dark green leaves.
And thats kind of the end of the pineapple story for now.

WHAT IS THIS BLACK MAGIC?
You Guys! Remember when I said I was putting on a monthly design market? Well I'm still doing that.
We're taking applications for stallholders for the next 3 x events (July/Aug/Sept), so if you live in Sydney and you make cool shit, get applying!
It will be the last Saturday of the month at Newtown Social Club, from noon-5pm.
I'll be there with my knitted bits and pieces, so I have to go now and keep making those vases.

New decorations for my studio <3
I just picked up a half-price 2013 Kitty calendar and cut out my favourite pictures. The frames were a dollar each from the Salvos. Great Success!
Recently I was struck with a bit of a conundrum. I needed to make some packaging for a few individual banana necklaces and brooches, but I was sending them to client before they then sent them on again to lucky recipients.
Normally I spend quite a bit of time gift-wrapping my orders for customers and sending them out directly. So the challenge was now how to make something cute that the client could open, check the product, and then send off with ease.
I thought about it for a while. Drank some tea, thought about it more. Asked Bev, she was no help.
Finally decided on these pillow boxes (I now know that's what they're called, took quite a lot of googling for 'thin curvy gift box template thingy).
Anyway, RESULT! I'll put up a proper template and some instructions soon.

I've been working for a couple of weeks on perfecting these knitted vases and I have to say I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out!
I tried another smaller one with a gloss finish over the wool, to provide more protection from water when filling up around the flowers, but the texture just wasn't as awesome, even though it was probably more durable.
Now I just have to work out how to do french knitting in double speed.
I'm working towards having at least 3 of these ready to go for my first stall at the inaugural Lonely Hunter markets.
Wish me luck!

YAY! We're putting on a design market in Sydney at the Newtown Social Club.
On the hunt now for creative stallholders, so head to www.lonelyhunter.com.au if you do something crafty and want to apply!
Our latest range of knitted rings - The Admirals Collection - has just been posted online.
48 individual handmade knitted rings with fancy sailor buttons.
The buttons come from here, there and everywhere. Some I've had so long I dont even remember where they came from. Haberdasheries, country towns, the bottom of my sewing box.
But they're all special and have been handpicked for this range.
At the nautical but nice price of $10 (AUD) + P&H. Over at our Etsy.
Bev generally disapproves of my storage solutions and likes to add her own flair to my workspace.
Our latest range of knitted rings - The Admiral's Collection - is coming along nicely.
Beverly the cat is overseeing creative execution.
Should be done in the next week or so and then up on Etsy.
ERMAGERD STICKERZ!
New BYCS stickers for sealing orders, defacing public property and just general merriment.
