Illuminated presents: THE JAGUAR

Last November, we did an informal game jam for folks who wanted to write something for Writing Month, but would prefer to write fewer than fifty thousand words of it. You can find the complete list of participants for that event in this post here. There's also an off-Tumblr archive of entries whose authors gave permission for them to be preserved here, if any of those links turn out to be broken.

Last year's collaboration went over well enough that I thought we might dust it off again this year. To be clear, this is just for fun – it's not a curated jam, and nobody's judging winners or handing out prizes..

If you'd like to throw your hat in, just follow these steps:

Step 1: If you're unfamiliar with 200-word RPGs, read a bunch of last year's entries (linked above) or browse the 200 Word RPG Challege archives at https://200wordrpg.github.io/ to get your brain-meats properly configured.

Step 2: Write your own 200-word RPG. If you're not sure whether you have 200 words or not (and with RPGs it can genuinely be difficult to tell!), you can use the word counter at https://200wordrpg.github.io/wordcount to check.

Step 3: Reblog this post and append your 200-word RPG.

Step 4 (optional): Please indicate in your post whether you're okay with having your 200-word RPG archived off-site for posterity – if you don't say anything one way or the other, I'll assume the answer is "no".

Each character has an Archetype, a Background, and at least three Goals. This will help inform what your Relic is.

Archetype

Who is your character at a glance ? Do they fit into any common archetypes ?

Background

What events have occurred in their life ? How have these events marked them ?

Goals

What does your character want in life ? What motivates them to do the things they do ? List at least three items.

Progression

Progression through the game follows the Arcs of your character through creating a Relic.

Arcs

Over the course of an Arc, your character can work towards their chosen Goals. There is one Arc per Goal. The length of the game is determined by the number of Goals. Each Act should be a journey of discovery-- both for you and your character.

Relic

Throughout your character's journey, you will amass knowledge of the world they live in. Consider how your character might choose to spread this newfound knowledge, and in what form. The point of this game is to produce a Relic showcasing what you and your character have learned about the world. Is it a thesis paper ? Video ? Artistic piece ? A book ?

Here is an article from Discord about this thag updated about an hour ago

Aside from that I was able to go into permissions and make it so nobody in my server could interact with Clyde. I still do not know what information Clyde and by extension OpenAI has from what it might have taken from my server to “make Clyde better” there was no warning and no message despite how discord had pitched this. It says in this article that it will notify users but Discord did not do that at all.
