On this day in 1995 Björk released her second studio album, Post. I was a big fan on Debut, and was definitely looking forward to this release, and it didn't disappoint! A lot of my favorite Björk tracks are on this album: Army of Me, Hyperballad, Isobel and I MIss You. It's a very industrial sounding record, which is probably why I like it so much. She's able to incorporate elements of Jazz and world music to make a varied, yet coherent album.
On this day in 1995, Fugazi released their fourth full-length album, Red Medicine. The near minute-long section of "what am I listening to" noise leading into the opener "Do You Like Me?" sets the tone for a difficult, abstract, yet ultimately rewarding listen. It's their highest charting album, received critical acclaim, yet became a polarizing record for many of their fans, leaving behind the more straightforward punk/hardcore of Repeater and In On the Kill Taker. I have a hard time ranking Fugazi albums in general (when asked which is my favorite, my response is "whichever one I am currently listening to") because they are all great, I will say that many of my favorite songs are on this album: Do You Like Me, Bed For the Scraping, Birthday Pony, Target, Long Distance Runner.
I'm 2 days early but as I'm spinning it this morning, I couldn't wait. Released on June 11, 2002, Suicide Invoice is the second release from Hot Snakes. I'm always blown away when I return to this band. So much musical history between John and Rick... it's hard to name all their bands. And it all comes together on this album. Maybe a tinge slower than their debut album (Automatic Midnight), this album still has all the energy and adds a but of snarkiness that is right in my lane. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.
This vinyl was dleivered last night... spinning now. Great way to start my morning!

Poison Ruin's 2026 release, Hymns from the Hills, is the perfect progression of their music. Cleaner and more accessible, yet still true to their punk, black metal and dungeon synth sounds. Each ep and album sees them moving forward and every time I am happy to be along for the ride.

Lead Into Gold-Knife the Ally Paul Barker continues his legacy with what many of us assumed was just a side project when he was deep in with Ministry in the 80s and 90s. Knife the Ally has the comfortable feel of the industrial and electronic music we have come to expect from Lead into Gold, but it explores textures and sounds I haven't heard from them before. This album feels more aggressive than 2023's The Eternal Present, which makes it feel a little more like 1991 again.
