I wrote this last night before going to bed and wasn’t planning to share it. But here it is.
Michael has been gone for seventeen years, yet somehow it still feels like he's here. In many ways, he is. The music, the memes, the impact he made… the guy even has fans that are in diapers right now.
I was very young when he passed, but somehow I remember that day with a lot of clarity. Maybe that's strange, considering how little most of us remember from our early childhood—especially a single day in such detail. Yet I can still recall it from beginning to end. More than that, I remember exactly how I felt.
I was very sad because I had lost my grandpa a few months back, so the night Michael passed, something —or someone— told me in my dreams that everything was going to be okay. Crazy, right?
To me, Michael Jackson was more than just an artist—he was someone I looked up to and still do. He went through so much crap, yet he always seemed to find a reason to smile and keep going. It may sound stupid to some, but sometimes when I feel overwhelmed or when I feel like I can't no more, I ask myself "what would Michael do?". His perseverance, kindness, and dedication have always inspired me, and they still do.
He left us way too early, but he completed his mission.
As an artist, Michael achieved what no other has. His impact on music and the world remains untouched. So does his heart.
His desire to help others—not for praise, recognition, or personal gain, but simply out of the goodness of his heart—is something he will always be known for. Kindness cannot be faked. It comes from who you are, and Michael showed that throughout his whole life.
That's why seventeen years later, he is still remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for who he was.
I saw someone on TikTok comment that they had asked their mother why God took him so soon. Their mother replied, "If you walked into a garden full of flowers, which one would you pick?" and that hit.
That’s all I have to say (or I’ll cry more).
