there is something within me that i would like removed

i am the only person i’ve ever met who air-doodled as a child. i would really love to meet more people who air-doodled and talk about our diagnoses

i’m doing some reading and apparently this is a product of visual synesthesia, which is highly correlated with neurodevelopmental diagnoses. it is described as being a mental “projection” in which sensory visuals are layered onto reality. it is distinct from visual hallucinations. it makes sense that a neurodivergent person might stem in response to these projections, which explains why i used to pace in circles while tracing a pencil in the air for hours at a time. its also genetic!
