So a couple weeks ago my boyfriend and I went to the mall. He had just gotten money from financial aid and he wanted to go out to have fun. Prior to this we were pretty broke and we were spending our time indoors so we wouldn't be tempted to spend money. While in the mall we wandered into a store. It was a very spacious store filled with clothes, cameras, records, books, candels, and other knick knacks. Later we discovered that we had wandered into Urban Outfitters (we don't get out very much). We had found this book called The Bob's Burgers Burger Book. All the recipes in this book are from the Bob's Burgers TV show. If you aren't familiar with the show, it's a cartoon about a man named Bob and his family who own a burger restaurant. In every episode the chalk board in the background displays a new burger of the day. This book has taken some of those burgers and has made them into recipes you can actually eat. My boyfriend and I love Bob's Burgers (me more than him), so we decided to buy the book to try out the recipes. After several weeks of the book just sitting there, we decided to make a burger. I was kinda scared to try any of the recipes to be honest. Almost every single burger either has something I can't pronounce in it or something I think would be terrible on a burger. We ended up making the Blondes Have More Fun-gus Burger. It had minced garlic, coconut milk, peanut butter, mushrooms, curry powder, turmeric powder, cayanne powder, and paprika. The recipe called for smooth peanut butter but all we had was the chunky kind so we went with that. Honestly, this burger was delicious. The blend of Indian spices dripping down the garlic burger worked perfectly together. Even though this burger combination sounds terrible, it ended up being one of the best burgers I've ever had. I did have some trouble actually making the burgers though. The book says that your supposed to make the patties a little bigger than the buns because the meet shrinks. It also says to put an indent in the center because that will prevent the burger from bulging. When I made the burgers bigger than the pattes the time to cook them ended up being much longer than it said in the book. Also, my patties started to bulge because they were so big and the indent didn't matter. Although I had setbacks, I still highly recommend going out to buy this book; but if your too scared to try new things, I will be posting how well I think they taste everytime I make one. I'll do the dirty work first (ha).
