#they really ARE foil couples to each other. the darcys & the bingleys yk?#it’s not a love triangle it’s a love parallelogram#the way each of them is a mirror/foil/flipside of coin for someone else#dan and nate and the scholarship kid vs the legacy#blair and serena and their moon and sun thing they got going on#dan and serena and how they both would tear themselves apart for their family#blair and dan and their connections through art and their big stupid bleeding hearts#serena and nate being constantly misunderstood and underestimated bc of their looks and their choice to trust people#how all of them have been the kid that was left#okay so. that blairena fight from s3 when chip wiskers says ‘they’re fighting because they each think she loves the other#‘more than the other loves her’#insert onion headline ‘the worst person you know just made a good point’ here#and that’s all four of these people with each other at one point in time!!!!#the deficit isn’t real though. of course it’s not. but it’s not about that#it’s about how they perceive it.#and the only time it gets CLOSE. to coming into balance are these moments in this set#(again. a galaxy brained set!!!!)#serena and nate and then later blair and dan settle into that comfort with each other#but only two at a time#and the other two are left in turmoil#and so the balance is knocked off. and comes tumbling down.#(see in s3 dan and blair’s respective relationships crumbling at almost the same time)#(and whatever the fuck serena and nate were struggling through in 5b. like her gg moonlighting and him being smothered in a role#he never wanted nor asked for)#but like. the harmony that would have been possible if they’d gotten to couple up at the SAME time?!#the insecurity of seeing their Other unhappy while they are happy and vice versa#wouldn’t have been an issue#and they all could have been happy together (via @terrainofheartfelt)
