Hello! Iām Jordan, 17 (soon to be 18) year old writer. Iāve been writing for as long as I can remember, always loved to create stories and make things just using my imagination. I have big (slightly unrealistic) dreams of becoming a famous author. For now, Iāll just sell my talents for the coins.Ā
There are a ton of personal and family reasons why I need this money, but mostly I just want some independence and a chance to improve my already (awesome )skills. Even if you canāt afford anything, please spread this around. Let the good people know Iām handing out my writing talent and time for a price!
I Can Do:
Original writing including short and novella length stories. You can either leave the plot and characters up to me or give me your own ideas to run with. Like a ghost-writer whoās getting paid to do the fun stuff.
Poetry/Prose. It can either be your run of the mill, beautiful poetry to ogle at or I can write poems/prose for your muse. I know a lot of roleplayers like to have something that reflects their muse well. A specially made poem or line of prose would do just the trick.
Roleplay Material Including:
Rules set-up
Bios for group* and indepedent roleplayers
Plots for group rps and 1x1s
( I am reluctant to write up biographies for fandoms Iām not familiar with, but Iāll try my hardest to capture the character. )
Fanfiction for a wide variety of fandoms extending from the BBC Sherlock universe to the Hunger Games universe. Iām comfortable doing everything from multichapter to one-shots. Just specify what you want!
Editing! Which I know is a big deal for a lot of writers. It can be very hard to critique our own writing, so Iām offering to become your beta reader. Iāll look it over, edit any mistakes and help you fix any character issues/plot holes!
Pricing
$15 for every 1k.Ā So fifteen bucks will get you a thousands words and thirty will get you 2k and so on with the pricing. I will not charge an extra free if I write over what you paid me for.Ā ( So if I fall in love with your character and lose my mind with the writing and word vomit something up, I wonāt make you pay for it. )
For poetry Iām going to be charging $30 per poem as this is one of my strongest areas.
Iām going to have to ask to have the money upfront and youāll get your product afterwards!
With roleplay situations, Iām just going to charge $10 per bio and/or plot.
Do not ask me to lower my prices. Writing takes a long time and as much as I love it, it takes a lot out of me. Not only are you paying for my art, but youāre paying for my time too.
FOR EDITING, I charge based on the whole work. $10 for ten pages or less and $25 for anything after that.
Guidelines
I reserve the write to turn down a request. Keep your money if you want to write smut, pedophilia or rape. I will not do it for any price.
You will not claim my writing as your own. If you use my writing in your roleplay or on your page, you must credit it to me.
I will publish the fanfiction/original works onto my writing blog, @monstergiirls when the work is completely done.
If you donāt like the finished product or would like a revision, please send me an IM or an ask. If any revisions canāt be made, youāll get your money back!
#INDIESOFCOLOR | a new promo tag
You may have heard of the #pocmuseedit tag. Well, hereās another idea: A tag where we can promote and find muses of color in indie rp! Sometimes, the over abundance of white muses in the roleplay community makes it hard for muns to find other non-white muses to interact with. This is a promo tag that will make it easier for single-muse, multi-muse and 1x1 blogs with poc to find each other and connect! Ā You can use the tag to search for new partners or contribute to it by tagging your promos with #indiesofcolor.
RULES FOR THE TAG
1.) The tag is for promos of every shape and size, but please donāt fill it with starters, headcanons, spam, ooc etc. We donāt want to clutter it. 2.) Whitewashing is not allowed! Ā What good is a tag for poc if weāre encouraging colorism? A great guide on both recognizing and avoiding whitewashingĀ in your graphics can be found here. 3.) Use your best judgement and donāt mislead for a free promo. If you have a multi-muse with fifteen muses, one is a person of color and you havenāt played them in three years, please donāt take advantage of the tag for an easy boost.
black-only lyric starters

This week itās #-AĀ Do with this post as you will! All I will say is if itās got the n-word in it, itās obviously not for you. A like/reblog is always appreciated.

how to write a black character if you not black yourself, a how to by yours truly, me, cammy
yeah so aight, i did one of these like. last year, hereās the original post right here so yeah. thereās been a lot more stuff thatās been going on in terms with writing black characters and nonblack people being the authors and ones running the blogs since then and a lot of it is just garbage and needs repair. like, i just been thinking, jesus, we need to fix this, howās it gonna happen. he told me to make another guide so here we are.
ONE. stop expecting brownie points for having a black character/faceclaim anywhere, and i mean ANYWHERE on your blog.
that shit is corny. why should you be gassed up and praised for having a black character? iām black and i donāt get praised for having a black character, so why are you different? no one gets gassed for using a white faceclaim, so you shouldnāt get gassed up for using a black one? diversity shouldnāt be praised or gassed up, deviating from the norm of a very white/nonblack roleplay environment or any general media, writing, what have you doesnāt deserve an award. youāre supposed to step outside of that and write different characters, you donāt get a cookie.
TWO. stop acting like you own black faceclaims.
that shit is just weird and uncomfortable. if people wanna use a certain faceclaim, then theyāre gonna do it. you donāt own them as a person or faceclaim, so donāt get mad when you see duplicates of them and act entitled. black celebrities have their own agency and really donāt act or do anything really just so you can feel like you own their resources on tumblr dot edu.
THREE. use other faceclaims that arenāt light skinned or āracially ambiguous.ā
kehlani? kiersey? zoe? zendaya? tinashe? nicki? bey? rihanna? they need a rest. theyāre tired, okay, listen to me. your character being black or you using a black faceclaim does not mean they have to be light skinned. use someone different? i promise itās not gonna kill you, i swear it wonāt. if resources and icons are the only things holding you up with using black people with darker skin as your faceclaim then maybe you just donāt need to write a black character at all. thereās people on here that make icons, go ask for some requests if itās really an issue and you donāt know how to make them? go on pb_updates, look outside of tumblr for icons, like, thereās just zero excuse for it.
FOUR. stop using poc in the place of black.
that shit is aggravating too. black isnāt a bad word like i said. donāt be afraid to say your character is black? poc and black arenāt interchangeable all the time like please stop.
FIVE. if you arenāt black and youāre writing a black character, you need to cool it on talking about black issues/culture.
what i mean by this is if youāre not black, you donāt need to stick your nose where it donāt belong. donāt think just because you write a black character, you can speak up on black experiences or things specific to black people. donāt talk about aave and using it or antiblack slurs, itās not your place. donāt think you know everything about black culture because you possibly could not know. just. donāt speak over black people and what we go through. youāre free to bring attention to black issues and things like that? but if someone asks you, go ahead and direct them to an actual black person so you donāt get in trouble on here.
SIX. be aware of antiblack/colorist tropes.
your only evil character being dark skinned? bad look. always shipping light skinned femmes with dark skinned masculine people while leaving dark skinned femmes without any kind of relationship/connections? bad look. your light skinned characters being regarded as pure and beautiful and brown/darker skinned ones being regarded as ugly and mean? bad look. thereās tons of other tropes that play into colorism and antiblackness and if you arenāt sure that youāre about to do it, ask someone whoās black and/or do your research just to make sure you donāt contribute to these harmful stereotypes and tropes.
SEVEN. get it together with your graphic designs of your black characters.
if you do art or make your own icons, thatās dope, big ups to you for having that kind of talent and determination. what isnāt dope is when you have your art of your black characters and it just looks like a recolor of a white character. yeah, not all black people haveĀ āblackā features or they haveāwhiteā features those of which that are usually considered to be moreĀ ādelicateā like having smaller lips or noses and is already a shitty and racist ideal in itself, but its enough of us that do for you to get it together and learn how to draw them. black people have big noses and lips, afros, braids, dreads, twists, discoloration, like! weāre not a monolith and donāt all look like weāre white painted black, get it together. if you canāt draw black characters that look black, maybe you need to step your art game up considerably.
EIGHT. stop ignoring what black writers say concerning struggles with their black characters.
iām sorry, but we all know the roleplay community is racist. we all know at this point, thereās no way you canāt. if youāve gone your whole time on here writing white characters and having them praised then going to writing a black character that gets little to no recognition, donāt even be surprised at all. youāre gonna get ignored, youāre gonna struggle for interactions, just keep that in mind because unfortunately in this community, it comes with the territory. itās going to take time and youāre not going to get a thousand followers in three weeks like you would with a white character. people are gonna be racist and disrespectful towards your character at some point, thereās really just no getting around it most if not all the time as sad as it is.Ā if we canāt surpass any of these problems, donāt think that you can.
NINE. step your character concepts up.
the stereotypes are tired, ok. the drug dealers/lords, the violent rap artists, fashion bloggers with bad attitudes, like? why? and itās not that black people like that donāt exist, because they certainly do. the big problem is that no one bothers to develop these characters at all? itās just a trope pasted on a face, they have no emotional agency or ties, the audience has no emotional ties with the character. outside of that, black people do the same stuff nonblack people do? weāre doctors, teachers, lawyers, stay at home parents, models, business owners, anything nonblack people do, black people do too. stop just pasting stereotypes and tropes on to your black characters without developing anything at all and expecting it to just be cool and not shitty or boring and think youāre gonna get by that way.
TEN. please chill with the fetishization and hypersexualization of black bodies.
this shit is aggravating. aggravating and nasty. if all you can do with your black character is reduce them to how their body looks and how sexy they are or how much they have sex you need to get it together. this is not me saying not to write hypersexual black characters, but this isnāt even the same thing. like if all you talk about is howĀ āthicc uwu look at her ass uvuā your character is and how much they love to fuck itās like, gross. the history of black people being fetishized for their bodies and being unnecessarily hypersexualized is a horrible and disgusting one, so you need to be careful not to do any of that period.
anyways, this is just a fraction of what i need to touch on to be honest, just a small little part. this post is probably worded harshly or what have you, but please understand where iām coming from. iām just tired of the shitty antiblack tropes and the racism and entitlement, okay? black people, real and fictional, need to be respected.
Late to the party but Iām here for #blackout!
