Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's ok to be vulnerable, you know?

Just found out that one of my childhood abusers has a rare form of breast cancer. What's wild is that I thought to myself how I wished things were different with our relationship. Maybe I should have been quieter, less out spoken, less Queer, maybe I should have tamed myself then and foster care could have been avoided. As soon as I started thinking those thoughts I had to remind myself that nothing was my fault. I had to soothe the Queer ass "defiant" kid in me by reminding her that this person chose to harm me for being myself and it's ok to be sad but know that the abuse was not my fault. My daily reminder to myself: It is not your fault. Abusers abuse people. It is not your fault.
