Slowly becoming open about worshipping Greek gods feels like a humiliation ritual at times ngl.
About Hekate
Hekate is a extremely understanding Goddess and she doesnβt force you to do anything you donβt want to. I watched a video about her and the creator kept on saying you must worship Deipnon every month at the crossroads and X, Y, and Z. No you donβt lol? She was stressing that you have to do it unless she will be mad or something.
Sorry to burst peopleβs bubbles but Deipnon with Hekate historically wise there wasnβt much evidence to suggest Hekate being worship on the new moon only one written record was found. BUT can you worship her in the new moon? Yes you most definitely can New Moon are liminal but do you have to do it every month no and certainly not at the crossroads outside.
The same creator didnβt even talk about her historical associations like ferrets, horses, fish, etc. They may have brought up dogs but they brought up birds associated with her which she never was ancient wise thatβs more recent associations in modern paganism and folklore. Can you associate Corvus birds with her, yes, but if youβre talking all about Hekate for beginners do it in a way that is honest and having the full understanding between ancient and recent.
For beginners of Hekate or Hellenic polytheists who are just starting to worship Hekate, she understands that you canβt work with her every month, give offerings outside, you canβt have the means to travel to a forest with a crossroads, etc. She knows you better than anyone who claims that you are wrong. I mean communication can be good but you donβt have to explain to everyone why you canβt do something. You are following whatβs right in your heart in your own practice donβt let anyone dictate on that
Please for the love of the gods write down what theyβre saying and fact-check it and compare sources even other peopleβs experiences. Many of Hekatean followers understand that Hekate is not a dictator but a mother and mentor, tough at sometimes but mostly loving.
Hey, guys. β‘
I would appreciate your support.β‘Β°
Last night I gathered with a lovely group of seekers, worshippers, and devotees of Hekate to craft and chat alongside my lovely cohost who I am happy to call friend and a fellow priest of Hekate.
This was for our Hekate's Vial and Torch Workshop at a beautiful local witchcraft shop! We focused on Hekate's aspects as a protector, keybearer, and torchbearer.
Hekate's protection is potent no matter where we are on our journeys. If you are just beginning to seek her out or going through yet another crossroads with her, she stands tall with her torch, ready to watch us navigate the paths ahead.
This goddess doesn't just show us the way, but show us that there IS a way! π
I had the opportunity to host a short blessing and crossroads visualisation ritual near the end which I enjoyed a lot. I've been practicing more of my freestyling when it comes to these things so I don't have to spend every ritual reading from a document or a piece of paper. I think it went really well this time!
Here are a couple pictures of the altar + table we arranged for the night.
Thank you Hekate for the continued opportunities you bring me to connect with others and host sacred space.

for Lady Hekate.
Digital offering to Hekate
Hesiod, Theogony 404 ff (trans. Evelyn-White) (Greek epic C8th or C7th B.C.) :
"Hekate whom Zeus the son of Kronos (Cronus) honoured above all. He gave her splendid gifts, to have a share of the earth and the unfruitful sea. She received honour also in starry heaven, and is honoured exceedingly by the deathless gods . . . For as many as were born of Gaia (Gaea, Earth) and Ouranos (Uranus, Heaven) [the Titanes] amongst all these she has her due portion. The son of Kronos [Zeus] did her no wrong nor took anything away of all that was her portion among the former Titan gods: but she holds, as the division was at the first from the beginning, privilege both in earth, and in heaven, and in sea. Also, because she is an only child, the goddess receives not less honour, but much more still, for Zeus honours her."
My New Hekate statue ahhh Iβm so happy!!!! π₯ππ
To Hekate
Thomas Taylor, 1792
I call Einodian Hecate, lovely dame,
Of earthly, watery, and celestial frame,
Sepulchral, in a saffron veil array'd,
Pleased with dark ghosts that wander thro' the shade;
Persian, unconquerable huntress, hail!
The world's key-bearer, never doom'd to fail;
On the rough rock to wander thee delights,
Leader and nurse be present to our rites;
Propitious grant our just desires success,
Accept our homage, and the offering bless.
Apostolos N. Athanassakis, 1977
I call Hekate of the crossroads, wayside goddess, lovely one,
of earth, of sky, and of the sea, O saffron-robed one,
tomb-dwelling one, reveling in the souls of the dead,
daughter of Perses, lover of solitude, joying in deer,
nocturnal one, lady of dogs, unconquerable one,
beast-roarer, cloaked one, of irresistible purpose,
oxherd, key-bearer, mistress of the whole world,
leader, nymph, mountain-roamer, nurse of youths,
maiden, I pray to you, to my sacred rites
come ever with a gracious heart and joyful mind,
you who delight in the fragrance of offerings.
Santuariolunar, 2023
Lovely Hekate of the roads and crossroads I invoke;
In heaven, on earth, and in the sea, saffron-cloaked,
Tomb spirit, reveling in the souls of the dead,
Daughter of Perses, haunting lonely places, joying in deer,
Night-wandering, dog-loving, unconquerable queen,
Roaring beasts, wrapped darkly, of unbreakable will,
Keeper of herds, key-bearer, mistress of all the world,
Leader, nymph, mountain-wanderer, nurturer of youth,
Maiden, I call to you at my sacred rites,
Come ever with kindness in your heart and joy in your mind,
You who love the sweet breath of offerings.
