That's why he'd taken so well to working with his superior in the days before the Occupation – the older program had, more or less, been an endless stream of thoughts, not a single one of them uninteresting. They'd spent their days in the Capitol wandering together, Dyson listening to stories of solar sailers and I/O towers and Tower Guardians, of the conscript programs he never understood, the User whose whims made little to no sense, and the simulations program he dearly loved. It had all been fascinating to Dyson – he often found his own processors whirring away, placing him in such situations, almost like his own sort of personal battle simulator, but much more pleasant.
